@ian_uk2k @Buster_ESPN Because it's a long season, division rivalries are a fun aspect to it. I like watching the AL East teams battle it out. Without divisions the schedule changes and rivalries are downplayed. That doesnt lead to "better quality baseball"

Interesting news to look into here. S&P Global is considering a spin-off of Capital IQ. I have a couple shares of $SPGI in my Second Due Capital fund.

2 other position in my fund were the result of a spin-off, $EXC and $CEG. Constellation definitely benefit from the split.

S&P Global $SPGI is exploring a potential separation of Capital IQ Pro, its flagship financial data and research platform.

Options include creating a publicly listed company, with a possible valuation in the high single-digit billions.

The talks are still early and S&P could decide not to proceed. A standalone CapIQ would compete more directly with FactSet and LSEG’s data business.

They aren't being reward because of an easier schedule or division. They are the camps of their respective division. The regular season record ends at the end of the season, the goal is to be the camp of your division. If you're not than you're a wild card. Of you're a top seed and complaining you have a tougher schedule, that's weak.

The main reason for my belief is this corrects itself when MLB adds the expansion teams and changes the divisions. 2 leagues, 4 divisions each, 4 teams each. Still 6 teams in the playoffs (4 division winners, 2 wildcards). The wild card round is the bottom 2 division winners vs the 2 wildcards.

But in regards to your 2nd point, that can be argued both ways. You shouldn't be rewarded for losing your division 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don't care about the record, it ends at the post season. Win the division or be a lower seed

In the end changing it doesn't matter. If the Wild Card team can't beat the 1 seed, they don't deserve it. And if the 1 seed can't beat the Wild Card team, they don't deserve it. Doesn't matter if it's in the ALDS or ALCS.

Historically, September is the worst month for the market. But the last 2 years have switched the "September Effect" and finished positive.
