@stacycay Well yeah, but the entire establishment coming to bat for her (Whitmer, Peters, most reps) + more than $60 Million in AIPAC spending constitutes a dragon on its own imo.
I’m referring less to the candidate quality of establishment Dems and more the institutional supports.
The American left is incredible, all of their best candidates (Mamdani, Sayed) have to slay dragons to win their races while the all the stupidest people in their roster (Chevalier, Hong) get to run in races where the establishment strategy is to shoot itself in the dick 5 times.
Collins: Do you still believe that Thanksgiving should be canceled?
Hong: I'm a chef, and one of the first meals that I made was for the community when I was 16 was a Thanksgiving meal. But Thanksgiving is also a time that's incredibly painful for many people in our communities. And so I think there, I wanted to make sure that people understood that there are multiple views, but views can evolve. And the position that I'm running for right now, and I think my background as a chef will actually help me become a better governor that's able to bring more people to the table.
@atlanticesque I mean the guy climbed from like 7% at the beginning of the year to coming within 10 points in Staten Island in the general. Even if Cuomo was a pretty weak candidate on his own, he had massive institutional backing behind him (even an implicit Trump and NY GOP endorsement).
@atlanticesque I suppose by “Dragon” I mean more that someone’s putting up an actual fight (with a lot of money), versus something like Espaillat sitting it out until the last two weeks or the Wisconsin Democratic Party shafting Mandela Barnes at the last minute for no good reason.
@Sinister6ixxxx@danjw1234@PollTracker2024 I didn't say anything about a career. If you were in his shoes, how ready would you be to invite the entire national press to hound your daughter and grandchildren for weeks on end?
Couple that with Moreno's daughter specifically asking him not to draw more attention to it.
@danjw1234@PollTracker2024 By no means am I a supporter of Moreno, but it seems reasonable that he'd want to keep the press and broader public away from his family. You can't do that with the press involved.
Insofar as the abuse has already been made public, there's no real reason to pull punches anymore.
@Neurolimal@a60483647@ettingermentum In every appearance I see of her she comes across like a college student or HR lady stuck in 2020. This isn't helped by her unironically spending time on apologetics for Thanksgiving and talking about her "proximity to Whiteness" through her son. Her polling reflects abt as much.
