P5A and P5B had a visit today from Stuart from @ssencommunity. He came to talk to the boys and girls about energy and electricity, they learned lots of new information and also had to be curious crocodiles to ask plenty of questions. We all enjoyed having Stuart in to talk to us.
This week P7A are working on character descriptions. We worked in pairs to create our own characters for a story. We drew out charters and then had to describe them with detail. We then used an AI image generator to create pictures of them.
Well done to all the P4 pupils who led the Easter church service today - you did yourselves, the school and your parents very proud!
Happy Easter and enjoy the long weekend π£
Due to a broken gate all buses and taxis should not use the designated drop off area, instead they will drop off and collect at the front door drop off point. This will mean more traffic than normal in the main car park until the gate is fixed and working again.
This month, the pupils in P7A have been helping Mrs Arif-Hall with the Ramadan Advent calendar, each taking a day to count down. Today, they also made stained glass-style art to celebrate the end of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid.
Miss Marr is getting married in the holidays π°π»ββοΈ So today the P1-P3/4 classes dressed her up, 'blackened' her feet, sang her a song we had made up and she was walked down the aisle while confetti was thrown at her! Wishing the future Mrs Birnie all the best from all TPS π
This morning the children in P3A had two visitors. Daffodil and Douglas are call ducks and they brought 8 of their eggs with them. We popped the eggs into the incubator and counted 28 days on the calendar to see when they should hatch.
To summarise their topic of WW2, P7A have created double page spreads about some of their key learning. We considered our layout and use of images to help make our work more appealing.
World Down Syndrome Day 𧦠The yellow zone classes and butterfly room learned about Down Syndrome today. We celebrated differences by making our own odd socks. #lotsofsocks#worlddownsyndromeday#WDSD2025

Today in the Butterfly Room we developed our fine motor skills and understanding of the different parts of a flower. By using our sense of touch, smell and sight as we mixed different colours and scents into the oobleck!
In Enhanced Provision we are continuing our learning of the five senses by exploring the sense of touch. We read a story, felt real life items and used symbolised communication boards to describe them. Favourites were slippery soap, a fluffy puppy and cold snowflakes!
P1/2 have been learning about the importance of having kind hands. They made a beautiful βHands of Friendship Wreathβ with Mrs McCann to remind us of our important hands off rule at TPS. We also had great fun making our own stress balls using flour, water and balloons!
The two P7 classes really enjoyed their day long hands on lessons from History From The Homefront this week. They particularly enjoyed looking, holding and trying on various items from the 1940s and marching like WW2 soldiers through the school doing their drills.
On Mondays in the Rainbow Room we have been having lots of fun learning all about Scotland. We have made our own tartan, been inspired by Scottish artists, tasted Scottish foods and even made our own bagpipes using rubber gloves and a straw π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
