No one is asking about the ramifications of tampering to control heat, light, rain, cloud, sun by spraying particles into the air intentionally. It's bad enough to have so much pollution unintentionally. Old enough to know many of our solutions end up creating more castastrophes.

I have several vintage shifts, and those were, from my understanding, used for casual work at home, kind of a formless dress. Very simple, no belt or anything, but buttoned shoulder straps and no sleeves. Easy to "shift" & change.

@pattiandkurt @jean_yoon @Jt82pdx Yes, I remember the term dressing gown as well as "house coat." Actually bath robe was a new term and it seems only my dad had a bath robe. The house coat was shorter and usually had snaps or buttons. Dressing gowns were longer. No older girl walked around in just a nightgown!

@Jt82pdx yes, I heard that growing up. Canada. Housecoats weren't as slouchy as chenille bathrobes though. Probably from the days when houses were less climate-controlled? And chillier. To wear over your pyjamas or granny gown and be warm and discreet in front of others. Different world.
