This is the REALITY of what 1000's of Canadian small businesses are facing.
The “Best Adirondack Chair Company” of Kemptville, ON has no choice but to open up a plant in the US due to the new s338 50% tariffs.
They were approached by Select USA, a Department of Commerce organization who facilitate business investment in the US.
They asked if other Canadian businesses had come knocking on Select’s door. “You have no idea (how many).”
Support from the Canadian government? “None, it’s tailored for big companies.”
KPMG report – 42% of Canadian businesses are planning to move to the US.
This all could have been over 2 weeks ago but the Liberals put political power over country.
@shashj@acoyne Targeting the gulf states simply shows the desperation of what’s left of the regime. It’s an attempt to scare these states into begging the US to back off. It’s a desperate act of a regime in its death throes. The result will obviously be the reverse. Making more enemies.
@jonkay Don’t increase spending. Instead of sending massive teams of over 200 athletes, 95% of whom have no chance of coming close to a medal, send a team of 50 or 60 elite athletes who can actually compete with the worlds best.
@gmbutts@LiciaCorbella@acoyne And of course the Toronto Star did a wonderful piece of journalism in destroying John Tory for something far less important. Such hypocrisy Gerry.
@gmbutts@TorontoStar Really, is this what journalism is all about? Taking down democratically elected officials because of personal improprieties, unrelated to governing. Sad if that’s what we now consider good journalism
@gmbutts Great, then I expect you’ll be asking your boss to open things up as they have in the US, won’t you, Gerry? Oh wait, there’s still that second shot thing, isn’t a there, gosh darn it.
