Since we published this, Cruz Azul lost two more finals and last year gave up a 4-0 first leg lead to lose the semifinal tie.
The Royal Academy of the Spanish language has authorised the use of cruzazulear as a verb for that kind of defeat.

I came across this a while back but only just remembered it now. 1972 Athens - Carlton VFL played the Orlando All-Stars in a soccer stadium as part of a sponsored Australian Rules world tour. Records don't say which ground but the scoreboard suggests Apollon vs Panathinaikos.
