My favorite part of the theft of the LA Mayor Race is that it truly snuffs out any hope I have for democrazy. It's going to get really bad fast and the extremes of both parties are driving the bus over the cliff. Enjoy the chaos.
@Smalltruckguy@LeeKuanYimby Buddy, this is the thing I asked you to say out loud to someone in the real world. I’m sure normal people in the actual real world would love to have a “productive dialogue” with you after saying this.
Just imagine if there were a national popular vote and the winner depended on California, and then a month after Election Day the outcome changed because the last votes were finally counted. Think that'd go over well?
The mail-in voting is out of control. It opens the door to fraud. But even if the voting is legit, it undermines the system by giving a mirage of conservative victory that is then undone days later. Maybe that's even the point - just to demoralize right-leaning voters.
I'm just asking for some reasonable, common sense elections in California. Especially in the nation's second largest city, inside the largest county by population.
If someone has a 7.1-point lead 36 hours after polls closed in a full urbanized high-tech city, that person should always advance. That's common sense. YEAH SURE, a tiny percentage of ballots will arrive late because of mail or whatever. But it's been 36 hours. The lead is 7.1 points. And yet people think it's 2X more likely that the candidate trailing by 7.1 points 36 hours after polls closed will advance.
It's been 36 hours and only 62% of the vote is *estimated* to have been counted.
Am I asking too much? Really? This isn't some village in Alaska. And this isn't 1926.
Look, MAGA Republicans, there’s no funny business going on.
They count the ballots as they arrive. Election Day was Tuesday but the ballots will arrive whenever they will arrive. No one can control time or space. We are all but a collection of atoms floating in the haunting void of the Chaos.
Sometimes, the ballots do not show a Democrat was chosen. This is of course a situation that needs “curing.” It’s not as simple as in other states where ballots show voting intent. In California, the voter must check a box to indicate who they’re voting for, but have you considered that only white supremacists with colonizer mindsets think that checking a box next to a name indicates you are voting for them? Hence why we need to cure the ballots. Often through a seance. Or tarot cards.
Finally, occasionally we find a Republican gaining votes on the Dem. This is when the simulation must be paused. Such an occurrence is unpossible. MAGA Republicans wouldn’t understand. They believe in things like “math” and “gravity.” So silly.
@Smalltruckguy@LeeKuanYimby I totally understand where you’re coming from. There was once a time in my life where I too felt a visceral thrill from saying no-no words. And then I turned 10.
@Smalltruckguy@LeeKuanYimby Have you just never come up with your own insult in your entire life? Or have you always just strung together a bunch of faux edgy slurs with things my grandma said during the depression?
@Smalltruckguy@LeeKuanYimby Hahahaha look at you. You’ve been mad for 48 straight hours. You reached for the fag word when you couldn’t think of anything actually clever to say. That’s an that’s an automatic forfeit my guy.
@Coalminecancary@ChrisHalbersma@NateSilver538 Firstly, Florida, along with every other state, was eventually going to abandon mid 20th-century punch card counting machines and adopt new technology recount or no. Also, you don’t think could be another pandemic in the fall of an election year?
@Coalminecancary@ChrisHalbersma@NateSilver538 Yeah I mean there’s only 8 to choose from. Also, officially, none of them finished counting votes on election night. News agencies use math to determine when there aren’t enough votes for the losing candidate to pull ahead. Them calling it on election night has no legal effect.
