i think a thought,
or maybe not,
if i think of three,
alas that’s thrice,
they roll they tumble,
round-n-round,
bouncing bubbles,
thoughts unbound,
untwisted not troubled,
floating freely,
and then i wonder—
what hidden hand
has set them free,
to drift un-tethered,
inside of me.

for i am thinking,
that i think,
and thinking thoughts,
that thoughts can think,
a mind that minds,
the mind it minds,
and somehow finds,
itself behind—
behind the thought,
behind the word,
behind the silence
never heard.

where does a thought,
begin its flight,
does it awaken,
does something whisper,
“here am i,”
before the thought
has learned to try?

perhaps the brain
is but a room,
where little thoughts
forever bloom,
bubbles rising,
one by one,
and somewhere in
that turning sea,
a thought looks up
and looks like me—
while i, who thought
that thought was mine,
am only watching
thoughts unwind.. ..
