Apple: Sorry, your Mac app is a copycat of your iOS app. So you're rejected.

TLDR: Apple reviewers have been citing random reasons rejecting my app since May 4th. However, my iOS app with the same metadata/code got approved quickly.

I've been developing a read-it-later app called @Twilar_app since 2018.
It was renamed once. I barely update any metadata except the release notes.

The interesting parts are:
Firstly, I got rejected because an Apple reviewer said Twilar macOS is a copycat of Twilar iOS.

I argued. Then they became extremely picky, starting to select random points of the app metadata or the app itself to reject my app updates.

I don't know why they started to waste the time. Even if I updated my metadata by removing "Cat Studio" they're not happy with, my app updates were still blocked by using "Cat Studio", which was already removed.

They didn't even bother to upload a screenshot. Just blocked my updates blindly.

I just submitted Twilar Mac review for the last time. If still blocked by random reason, I will remove this app from the Mac App Store.

@tim_cook I really hope you can hold this person accountable. This behavior hurts both Apple and developers.
Why people don't upload their Mac apps to Apple's App Store? Because the reviewers suck.

Btw, this is the second time for me in recent years. 😅

It is a "copycat" actually. Because Twilar macOS is using Mac Catalyst, which is built on the same code as its iOS version. 🫡
