Instead of asking "Can you see this?" try something more considerate like, "Do you prefer audio or tactile descriptions of things?" Itโs all about respecting preferences and creating an inclusive environment.

Words matter. Instead of saying "I could never live like that," try expressing empathy and understanding. A better way to connect is by saying, "I can't fully understand your experience, but I'm here to listen and support you." Small changes in language can make a big difference.

Visual impairment exists on a spectrum rather than as a simple binary distinction between sightedness and total blindness. The term "blindness" is often considered an absence of sight, but many people classified as blind retain some vision.
