“El fascismo de los antifascistas” – Pier Paolo Pasolini

Pasolini plantea algo incómodo: hay formas de poder que se disfrazan de virtud. Y cuando el discurso se convierte en moral absoluta, el resultado no es libertad, sino obediencia.

El antifascismo no es inmune al fascismo.
Cuando una causa se siente moralmente superior, puede caer en la misma lógica que pretendía combatir:
•imposición,
•cancelación,
•simplificación del adversario,
•dogmatismo.

Pasolini anticipó un fenómeno que vemos hoy: la política deja de ser debate y se convierte en identidad moral. Quien no piensa igual, no es adversario: es enemigo.

Y aquí viene la lección estratégica para mí:

La democracia no se destruye por una sola ideología. Se destruye cuando dejamos de escuchar al otro.

El verdadero peligro no es la derecha o la izquierda. Es cuando una parte se siente autorizada a decidir quién merece hablar
y quién debe ser silenciado.

Es el momento en que la libertad deja de ser un principio y se vuelve un privilegio.

Pasolini no invitaba a justificar al fascismo.
Advertía sobre algo más profundo: El poder cambia de traje, pero no de método.

Y leerlo hoy es un recordatorio incómodo:
defender la democracia exige más que buenas intenciones. Exige pluralidad, disenso, crítica y autocrítica. Exige reglas, límites y humildad.

Porque la línea entre combatir al fascismo
y reproducirlo sin darnos cuenta siempre es más delgada de lo que creemos.

A reminder. The BBC worked with a production company for 9 months on the Gaza doc. 9 months of contact - checking sources -asking questions.

They saw nothing wrong. They thought they had an award-winning production. So they published it.

It took me just 3 or 4 hours to work out their star was the son of a Hamas minister.

Which means nobody at the BBC even looked. Nobody. And so they were quickly forced to take down their Hamas propaganda.

This is not just about figureheads. While it is good that Tim Davie and Deborah Turness have gone. The rot @bbcnews is not so easily cleansed.

There are too many people there who actually believe it is okay to lie for their political (or religious) beliefs -and who think they are ethically, morally and intellectually superior to everyone else.

You won't solve that by just replacing someone at the top.

Hi ha entrevistes que expliquen més del nostre temps que qualsevol editorial. La de Sydney Sweeney, sotmesa a la insistència d’una periodista que vol arrencar-li una disculpa per una suposada falta, n’és una. L’actriu, lluny de caure en el parany, respon amb serenitat i naturalitat, sense entrar en el joc de la culpa ni la submissió moral. Es manté ferma, es respecta i continua sent ella mateixa. En aquest instant, sense proclamar-ho, marca una frontera: la de qui no es deixa definir pels altres.

Aquest gest aparentment banal és, en realitat, una metàfora política. El món d’avui viu immers en una lluita constant pel control del relat —sobre la veritat, la moral i la legitimitat. Les grans potències, els moviments socials i fins i tot els individus s’enfronten cada dia a una mateixa trampa: jugar dins d’un marc que no han escollit. La clau del poder, sigui mediàtic o geopolític, no és qui té la força, sinó qui defineix les preguntes.

Pocs països ho han entès tan bé com Israel. Des del seu naixement, l’Estat jueu viu sotmès a un judici permanent: cada decisió militar, cada llei, cada gest és examinat sota una lupa moral que parteix, sovint, d’una premissa condemnadora. Davant d’això, Israel ha triat una resposta que irrita molts però explica la seva supervivència: no demanar perdó per existir.

No és arrogància, sinó sobirania narrativa. Israel accepta el debat, però rebutja que siguin els altres qui en fixin els termes. Sap que si juga dins del marc moral imposat —on se’l presenta com a agressor o com a anomalia històrica— ja ha perdut. Per això construeix i defensa el seu propi relat: el d’un país que neix perseguit, que lluita per sobreviure i que només es deu a la seva seguretat i futur. Aquesta coherència, que pot semblar inflexible, és també la seva principal força.

En el fons, Sydney Sweeney fa el mateix en aquesta entrevista: no acceptar el marc de la culpa. No es justifica. No demana perdó per una cosa que no mereix disculpa. Exerceix, a escala personal, la mateixa sobirania que Israel practica a escala d’Estat.

El catalanisme, en canvi, encara no ha après aquesta lliçó. Massa sovint ha jugat dins del relat que li ha imposat l’Estat espanyol o el discurs dominant internacional. Ha volgut demostrar que és “responsable”, “pacífic”, “dialogant”, com si el seu dret a existir depengués d’una aprovació moral externa. Aquesta actitud, per més noble que sembli, conté una feblesa fatal: qui se sent obligat a justificar-se ja ha acceptat que l’altre té dret a jutjar-lo.

Durant anys, el moviment sobiranista ha respost a preguntes mal plantejades: “Per què voleu dividir?”, “Per què no respecteu la llei?”, “Per què no espereu un moment millor?”. Cap nació lliure no es construeix responent a aquest tipus de qüestions. La veritable força d’un poble comença quan entén que no ha de demanar permís ni perdó per voler ser. El seu dret no neix del reconeixement aliè, sinó de la seva pròpia convicció.

Israel és sovint criticat perquè no busca agradar. Però potser aquest és precisament el seu secret: la convicció que la legitimitat no es demana, s’exerceix. Catalunya, que massa sovint ha intentat agradar al món, hauria d’assumir que el respecte arriba només quan un parla amb veu pròpia i no amb el llenguatge dels altres.

La serenitat de Sweeney, com la determinació d’Israel, no és una actitud d’enfrontament sinó de maduresa. És el coratge de qui sap qui és i no permet que li ho dictin des de fora. I és aquí on el catalanisme té la seva gran assignatura pendent: deixar de voler tenir raó i començar a voler ser coherent.

Sydney Sweeney, en una entrevista aparentment trivial, i Israel, en dècades de lluita per existir, ens recorden el mateix principi: no cal demanar perdó per ser qui ets. Potser Catalunya, si vol recuperar plenament el protagonisme del seu futur, hauria de començar per aquí.

As a Palestinian who openly opposes Hamas and rejects the glorified myths our society keeps repeating, I can’t stay silent about the sheer hypocrisy I see from many Western liberals.

How can you defend a movement that executes its own people, by shooting them in the street, without trial, for merely disagreeing or being labeled “collaborators”? How can you call that “resistance” while those very scenes mirror the barbarism you’d condemn anywhere else in the world?

You claim to stand for liberal values, for human rights, for justice. But your empathy collapses when the victims are Palestinians murdered by other Palestinians, when it doesn’t fit the neat narrative of oppressor and oppressed.

What does that say about your values, really?
If you can overlook public executions and rule by terror just because the perpetrators shout “liberation,” then maybe your solidarity isn’t rooted in morality but in ideology.

Seeing the tens of thousands of Palestinians return to their homes in northern Gaza, one can only remember the endless accusations against Israel: that the war was about displacement, ethnic cleansing, settlements- that these are supposedly the 'real' aims. Now the war has ended, Israel sees itself as victorious, and none of these goals has been achieved. How is it possible?

Here's the truth: Israel was trying to prevent Hamas from controlling Gaza and, primarily, trying to get its hostages back.

I’ve spent so many words in international media explaining that this war could end in minutes if Hamas agrees to return the hostages. But that ship had long sailed; the war was not portrayed by most of the international journalists or politicians as a war at all.

Israeli military casualties were almost never reported. It was presented as an onslaught, a massacre - no security aim, no reason, just death, reigned by Israelis with no purpose. Now, the hostages are returning, and the war has suddenly stopped. Will they remember that forgotten connection?

Hostages were always at the heart of the legitimacy of the war- for Israel, the U.S., and the international community. True, far-right and some Likud elements in the Israeli government had other (dangerous) dreams. The Prime Minister allowed those to be discussed and addressed. Yet these were never the consensus or a real option.

Recap: Hamas first refused to give up control of the Strip. Then, it refused to release hostages before full IDF withdrawal. It then refused disarmament. Now it agrees to all of these conditions. Echo chambers that cheered Hamas’s radical demands were obsessed with indicting Israel rather than ending the war and saving lives.

With all my criticism of Netanyahu and the missed opportunities to end the conflict, this was never about endless war. I write this no to defend him, but to explain the Israeli society. one only needs to know Israelis and witness the scenes of joy now, with this ceasefire, to understand that this is a people that wanted their lives back. Mainly, they wanted the hostages home and to know Hamas isn't a threat anymore.

President Trump, in a true demonstration of state-of-the-art statecraft, made it happen. He will forever be regarded as a hero in Israel.

Those who amplified Hamas’s demands are now silent- or even condemning the agreement. For them, it’s never been about Palestinians. It’s about hating Israel and Zionism to the point of being willing to sacrifice the last Palestinian so that their argument demonizing Israel will prevail.

Tot aquest espectacle dantesc de la flotilla, el polític, la seva intensa cobertura mediàtica, les nombroses mostres de "suport" i sobretot "orgull" pel que han fet, suspendre el ple d'avui, etc., exemplifica perfectament perquè no som independents (ni probablement, ho serem mai).

En la pitjor crisi diplomàtica entre Espanya i Israel (que recordem, no es va posicionar per la Unitat d'Espanya el 2017, és una potència mundial en tecnologia, intel·ligència, nuclear i armamentística, aliat dels EUA) els suposats membres i classe política d'una nació mínimament seriosa que diu voler-se independitzar intentarien teixir aliances i construir ponts a veure què en pot sortir. En canvi, curiosament (o no) ens hem dedicat a voler demostrar una vegada i una altra que els catalans som els més antiisraelians de tot Espanya: Que si declaracions al Parlament, manifestacions amb consignes antisemites als carrers, flotilles que salpen des de Barcelona amb islamistes i polítics catalans a bord, i ara això.

L'objectiu, igual que passava durant el procés, és la contínua necessitat de superioritat moral i ostentació de virtut. Fixeu-vos que durant el suposat "procés d'independència" el raonament no era simplement "som catalans (no espanyols) i, per tant, volem autogovernar-nos com qualsevol altre poble", sinó que la voluntat i els motius de la independència es devien al fet que "l'estat és feixista i nosaltres demòcrates", ells "Volen deportar VS Volem acollir", Monarquia VS República, Bons VS Dolents, etc. Tot això amanit amb un reguitzell d'eslògans infantils com "la revolució dels somriures" o "el costat correcte de la història" i similars que van acabar de deixar tocats del bolet a una població ja bastant necessitada d'autoestima per culpa de dècades (segles) d'ocupació i conseqüentment amb al·lèrgia al poder real.

Doncs ara passa el mateix amb tota la parafernàlia i moviment antisionista. L'important no és el nostre alliberament nacional i què podem fer per aconseguir-ho sinó demostrar que som els bons de la pel·lícula i l'ostentació de virtut amb continus parides simbòliques i estèrils que ens van en contra.

Ustedes me perdonarán (o me insultarán, o dejarán de seguirme, ya lo sé), pero yo sigo creyendo que los periodistas no deberíamos transcribir gacetillas de prensa en los medios, sino investigar y publicar la información que esconden los prenseros.

Si algún burócrata de la ONU saca una gacetilla diciendo que “una comisión independiente de la ONU concluye que Israel está cometiendo genocidio”, un periodista debería averiguar por ejemplo quiénes integran esa comisión, quiénes los contrataron y qué tan independentes son.

Y si, por ejemplo, descubre que una de las tres integrantes de la comisión es Navi Pillay, que apoya el movimento antisemita BDS y estuvo en el centro del escándalo de las conferencias racistas de Durban de 2001 y 2009 (en esta última participó como estrella invitada el expresidente de Irán, Mahmoud Almadineyad), esa información no debería omitirse. ¿No les parece?

La conferencia de 2009, organizada por Pilley, fue uno de los mayores escándalos de la historia de la ONU y tuvo como únicos objetivos legitimar el antisemitismo y ocultar bajo la alfombra los crímenes de odio contra la población LGBT. Eso llevó a que varios países occidentales la boicotearan y Pilley terminara quedámdose sola con Almadineyad y Gaddafi, el caricaturesco dictador libio, que le armó el comité preparatorio.

¿Y qué decir si descubrimos que Pillay defendió el levantamiento de las sanciones internacionales contra Robert Mugabe, dictador de Zimbabwe y violador serial de los derechos humanos?

Pero la cosa no termina ahí.

Otro de los tres integrantes de la “comisión independiente” es el conocido antisemita Miloon Kothari, defendido en 2022 por Pillay cuando dijo que Israel no debería continuar siendo miembro de la ONU y afirmó que las redes sociales “están controladas por el lobby judío”. ¿Les suena el argumento?

¿Y quiénes eligieron a esa comisión “independiente”?

El Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU, un reconocido club de violadores seriales de los derechos humanos.

En mi libro “El fin del armario” cuento cómo, a lo largo de los años, ese organismo ha sido colonizado por dictaduras y regímenes teocráticos y/o totalitarios y usado sistematicamente para ocultar las violaciones a los derechos humanos de la población LGBT y atacar a Israel con cientos de informes como el de esta comisión, que siempre son encargados a supuestos “expertos independientes” que, cuando rascás un poco, son como Pillay y Kothari.

O como Richard Falk, que trabajó con Pillay en la ONU y ocupó el mismo cargo que hoy ocupa la fanática Francesca Albanese.

Falk justificó atentados terroristas en Boston alegando que eran actos de "resistencia", afirmó que existía una conspiración entre el gobierno estadounidense y la "comunidad judía organizada" para robar tierras palestinas, defendió a Gaddafi y publicó en su blog una caricatura en la que aparecía la "Dama de la Justicia" guiada por un perro rabioso con una kipá en la cabeza y las iniciales "EE.UU." en su ropa.

El perro judío rabioso devoraba un esqueleto humano, salivando sangre.

Fue tan escandaloso que hasta Pillay reconoció que su “relator especial” era un antisemita. Pero, hasta que ese escándalo lo desacreditó, Falk escribía informes sobre Israel para la ONU y era citado en los diarios del mundo como experto independiente.

Uno de esos informes, en 2017, tuvo mucha repercusión porque “la ONU” decía por su boca que Israel estaba cometiendo “apartheid”. Falk lo escribió junto a Virginia Tilley, una profesora que militaba en el BDS y escribía para el sitio web The Electronic Intifada. Pagos por la ONU.

António Guterres, avergonzado, criticó el informe y pidió su eliminación del sitio web oficial de Naciones Unidad.

¿Y quién les había contratado el “informe de la ONU”, que tantos medios publicaron sin vestigar, a Falk y Tilley?

Otra comisión, la Economic and Social Comission for Western Asia, entonces presidida por un diplomático iraquí. Podría seguir, pero, en fin, dice la ONU que…

We can continuously battle over politics, policies, and partisan worldviews, but it's all vanity.

The great crisis of our age is not political or economic but spiritual. Modern humanity suffers from a malady of the soul. Restless and unsatisfied, we turn our inner torment outward, and the result is the mayhem that now defines our world.

What passes for political discourse today is little more than bloodlust in disguise. Stripped of reason, the emotionally impotent reach for bullets, proving with gunfire what they cannot defend with words and ideas.

If communication and debate are deemed worthy of death, civil society is doomed. Irrecoverably.

Until modern individuals revive a living sense of the sacred, a life rooted in truth-seeking and cooperation, politics cannot save us. Until our inner world is healed, the outer world will continue to be a catastrophic horror show with no hope for a better future.

I am against violence. I am against celebrating violence. I’m praying for peace. I’m praying for healing. I’m praying for the family, especially the children. I know what they’re going through. I’ve been through it.

I’m deeply scared for this country. The way some people are reacting on both sides is dangerous. If I had one wish right now it would be for everyone to please just step back and take a breath and remember we are all just sophisticated apes trying to coexist on a rock hurtling through space.

If we cannot tolerate polite and reasoned disagreement then there is no hope for our society.

There is a famous quote falsely attributed to Voltaire that however does sum up a principle of enlightenment philosophy, ‘I disagree with what you say, but I would die to defend your right to say it.’

The ideas of people like John Locke and Voltaire and Thomas Paine are what lead to the American Revolution which then inspired the French Revolution. They introduced the World to the idea that individual rights were important and should be protected from Monarchs (tyrants and dictators), and ultimately led to the idea that a country should be governed by its people NOT by the Church and NOT by a King.

If citizens don’t protect and respect each other’s right to disagree, then we cannot have a democracy. If we do not protect our right to disagree then we’ll get violence.

We do NOT want a society where violence is the way we win arguments, because then nobody wins. Everyone loses.

We are ALL losing right now. The whole society is losing together. Losing to violence. It’s unbelievably sad. It took so much work to get us here. We can’t throw it all away like spoilt children.

I did NOT agree with Charlie Kirk’s views on MANY important topics. I know he helped get Trump elected and people hate him for that. But he was a conservative Christian. What do you expect a conservative Christian to believe? How can those views surprise you? He argued those views calmly, reasonably, and considerately as far as I’ve seen.

But no matter what he did not deserve this. His wife did not deserve this. His kids did NOT deserve to have their world torn apart!

The way some people are being so cold and uncaring and even celebrating is disturbing and repugnant to me. It is making me physically ill. If you are celebrating the murder of a non-violent man for his opinions then you are NOT the better person. Look in the mirror. Imagine telling his kids how you feel. Step back. Take a breath. Remember we are all humans. We are all just flickers of consciousness in an endless eternity. Love IS the answer. I really mean it.

We are quite literally ALL in this together. If this ship sinks we ALL drown. Look around you. Everyone you see is a shipmate. We have to figure this out. We have no other choice.
