Parks Chair @TyHankerson joined @ErrolLouis on @NY1 to discuss the urgent need for investment in @NYCParks which “NY4P, the Play Fair Coalition, and @NYCCouncil have been pushing for,” including the long-awaited realization of the #1Percent4Parks pledge.
The #Knicks have not been this close to a ring in decades, so of course New Yorkers are excited.
This administration should work with communities to find safe spaces for that excitement, not shut watch parties down.
Thank you, CM Oswald Feliz, for standing up for NY’ers.
NYC cannot be a city where excitement and fun go to die. We should be creating, not eliminating, ways of connecting NYers & ensuring they can enjoy public spaces. Spoke w. @abcnews, @PIX11News, @CBSNews about the NYPD’s decision to shut down the @nyknicks & other watch parties.
Disgusted by the swastikas found in two Queens parks. These symbols of antisemitism and hate are meant to intimidate Jewish New Yorkers and divide our communities. We cannot allow this to become normal. There is no place for antisemitism — or any form of hate — in Queens or NYC.
My statement with @Lynn4NYC and @JoannAriola32:
Highland Park and Forest Park in Queens were vandalized with at least 11 swastikas.
Just a week ago today, similar antisemitic graffiti was found at two synagogues and two private homes in the borough.
This is yet another hateful incident meant to intimidate Jewish New Yorkers and divide our city. And we want to be clear: We cannot and will not accept this as normal.
That’s why the Council passed our Five-Point Action Plan to Combat Antisemitism, and why we’ll continue fighting for education and accountability.
We’re in touch with the NYPD, which is investigating. The Parks Department will remove the graffiti as soon as possible.
It was wonderful to host Council Member @TyHankerson of District 28 at the Archives last week! We look forward to working with him, and the rest of the Council, in our continuing mission to preserve and protect the history of New York City.
The 106 Youth Officers hosted an Explorer Appreciation Luncheon celebrating our Explorers' dedication and service. The event featured inspiring remarks from Council Member Ty Hankerson (District 28). Thank you to our parents, schools and community partners for their support.
First Hearing by @tyhankerson + Parks Commissioner Shimamura now. Topic: health of the city’s trees, upcoming tree census + Urban Forest Plan.
@NY4P message: trees are essential city infrastructure, and @NYCParks needs more funding for increased forestry staff to maintain them.
It’s that time of the year again!

I stand with NYC nurses—they keep our city running.
Safe staffing means better patient care & safer work for nurses. I’m with @NYNurses demanding fair contract, guaranteed healthcare, protections from violence, & no retaliation for union activity. #NursesCareforNY #SafeStaffingSavesLives #PatientsOverProfits
Ty Hankerson, the chief of staff of former City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, was sworn in to replace her as the councilmember for District 28. One of his major goals in office is to hold city agencies accountable when they fail deliver on resources. https://t.co/IAb8xGUt92
Thank you, Superintendent Dr. Crystal Bonds, for your unwavering dedication and outstanding leadership in our education system — especially for the students and families of District 29 in Southeast Queens. A job truly well done!
🥁 Drumroll please...
Meet the newest members of your New York City Council!
Eleven first-term members are stepping into City Hall to represent New Yorkers across all five boroughs.
I was honored to receive the “Key to the District” and serve as the keynote for the Brooklyn-Queens Lions Club Humanitarian Luncheon.
Thank you District Governors for inviting me to share.
