Last week, Costco forced the Teamsters to halt negotiations for a new national master agreement. Despite its claims of being pro-union, the wholesale giant refused to accept a card check neutrality agreement, which would make it easier for nonunion Costco workers to join the Teamsters.
In recent years, Costco’s corporate culture has shifted, prioritizing wealthy Wall Street shareholders over workers. Now, 18,000 Costco Teamsters nationwide are calling the company out and fighting for a strong contract that stops the corporate backslide and holds Costco executives accountable for their “pro-worker” reputation.

TEAMSTERS INVITE HARRIS TO RANK-AND-FILE PRESIDENTIAL ROUNDTABLE
Today, the Teamsters Union officially invited Vice President Kamala Harris to sit down with rank-and-file Teamsters for a member roundtable following the recent announcement of her candidacy for U.S. President.
President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, Independents Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Cornel West, and all other major candidates for President participated in historic Teamsters Rank-and-File Presidential Roundtables between December 2023-March 2024.
“The Teamsters look forward to welcoming Vice President Kamala Harris to International Union headquarters in the near future to meet with our members directly,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien. “As we have said throughout this process, our members’ voices must be heard at all levels of our government to ensure the needs of working people are put first.”
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has not issued any endorsement for U.S. President.
Teamsters vote. 1.3 million members nationwide. We are the greatest country in the world built by union workers, so there's no reason why workers shouldn’t have a voice.
It’s not about politics. We don’t want to be used for rhetoric. We want people to understand regardless of whether you have a D or an R next to your name, we need your help to work with us to solve problems in this country.
TEAMSTERS BOARD TACKLES DHL, BREWERY, ORGANIZING DURING SPRING MEETING
The Teamsters General Executive Board kicked off its Spring meetings at Teamsters headquarters in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, discussing the union’s far-reaching contract enforcement efforts and organizing campaigns across major employers, from DHL to UPS to the American Red Cross and Hollywood film and television studios.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman heard reports from the International Union’s departments of Organizing, Strategic Initiatives, and Political and Legislative Action. The full board, including representatives of Teamsters Canada, also discussed recent rank-and-file Presidential roundtables and upcoming processes to survey the 1.3-million Teamsters membership and conduct political townhalls at local affiliates nationwide.
“From political engagement to the ongoing contract enforcement campaign at UPS and the recent national contract victory for 5,000 Teamsters at Anheuser-Busch, it’s been a successful start to the year for the Teamsters Union. Our General Executive Board is committed to building on the union’s recent organizing and contract victories and continue to use our leverage wherever possible to improve the working lives, wages and benefits, and retirement security of our diverse membership,” O’Brien said.
General Executive Board meetings will continue this week as representatives from more than a dozen Teamsters divisions report on other organizing campaigns, national and regional contract negotiations, and political initiatives across myriad industries.
