Tybee Island Lighthouse is open every day but Tuesday, 9 am to 4:30pm. $10 for adults, $8 for 62+, military & kids. 5 or under free. Closed certain holidays.
We'll be taking a look back at Tybee Island Then and Now. Battery Brumby and Battery Garland, pictured here in 1936. The 12-inch rifled gun still sits upon Battery Garland.
Today Battery Brumby houses the Alee Shrine Club, and Battery Garland is home to the Tybee Island Museum.
The dip of the light meant that the island itself was always left in darkness. A lighthouse is for others; powerless to illuminate the space closest to it. –M.L. Steadman
Happy National Lighthouse Day!
