Interesting blog post from @zephoria on social media use. Starts off with a great satirical opening, and really compares social media moral panic to one’s of the past. The political questions run deep, and some good points are brought and can lead to good discussion!
Protect elders from harming themselves! Ban them from watching television! Cuz clearly restricting media access is the key to stopping a mental health crisis in our country. https://t.co/ajMSJU2xl8
Microsoft looking at a $10B investment into OpenAI:
• At a $29B valuation
• MSFT gets 75% of OpenAI profits until it recoups $10B
• After recouping $10B, the ownership structure becomes MSFT (49%), other investors (49%) and OpenAI non-profit parent (2%)
4) ethics of technology- how will students learn about who makes this tech and the biases it contains? The digital divide will only increase and people will be impacted; how will we prepare students to keep this gap close?
3) social entrepreneurship- this next generation is already the most socially conscious. How do schools continue to fuel this, and break traditional curricula even further? I already think this tech will assist greatly in design. And with that…
@mosswa@edutopia They did! Teachers, admin, and another 6th grade class were invited when they presented ideas. A really engaging and supportive experience, and the kids loved both the process and presentations
@mosswa@edutopia After reading about Helen Keller, our
school’s 6th grade English teacher used DT to have students created devices to help students experiencing blindness to navigate the school. Would be happy to talk more!
I tend to think the foundation of our creativity is pretty universal. But things like Design Thinking show that we can juggle human experience with this to solve problems. The world is Normal, but how we connect those normals is where non-AI innovation may come in.
One idea that keeps floating around with #ChatGPT - does this show that many of the things we found unique are actually existing on a normal curve? Could creativity in certain writing styles be normally distributed?
I used #ChatGPT to create a lesson plan for a humanities topic and it created a wonderful lesson plan. This ideally is a unique, creative, and exciting discourse. But is something like lesson planning really quite…average?
It brought great conversation about lateral reading, how technology alters the conversation, and how writing resources start sketchy but grow reliable when the community addresses it together
ChatGPT = “Wikipedia pretending to be sentient but not quite there” was an analogy that went over well with teachers today, for anyone looking to introduce the topic
Just thinking about how student strategies for learning have changed since the pandemic. Here are some bad habits that we should change.

One of the best parts of #atlisignited and @theatlis overall is the networking. I’ve met some incredibly gifted and diligent leaders and friends. @tjay_ta has been a mentor for me for years and exemplifies good leadership. Truly a conference I look forward to yearly
Don’t build perfectionists but high achievers. Particularly love the unevenness ideas: If you’ve put in the work, did everything and it’s still not successful, forget about it! It’s okay to not be good at everything #growthmindset
