Jose Ramirez breaks silence on signing below market extension from Guardians;
(Translation by Master Flip)
That was ultimately my decision, to take the extension. We went through a year and a half of negotiations, and when I finally signed, I got a significant salary bump. I knew it wasnโt fully reflective of my market value, and plenty of people made sure to point that out. But Iโm a veteran, I understand how the game works.
Cleveland is a small market team, and they simply canโt pay me what I could command on the open market. So I told them, Letโs find a fair agreement that works for both sides.
I spoke directly with the GM. There were real trade discussions and offers from other teams willing to extend me at my full asking price, but my heart was set on staying in Cleveland. First and foremost, my children were born here. My wife feels comfortable in Cleveland and so do I. I owe this city a lot.
Since the day I arrived, Iโve never once been booed by these fans. Iโve seen how crowds in other stadiums treat players when results donโt come quickly, and thatโs never happened here.

Today's victory over Ball State makes the Rockets bowl eligible for a 1โฃ4โฃth consecutive season.
That's the 8โฃth-longest streak in the FBS and the 2โฃnd-longest among โGroup of Fiveโ schools behind Boise State โ 25 years.

Dan Campbell said, "Grit is when you have the ability to overcome adversity in any situation. The ability to push through it, mentally, physically, to overcome. I think that's what grit is."
Grit is passion and perseverance for your long-term goals.
Grit isn't talent or luck, it's the ability to have stamina and endure.
Grit is a mindset that you grow and build over time.
โ It allows you to believe in the potential of tomorrow.
โ It brings you opportunities for growth.
โ It makes you resilient in times of adversity.
5 Ways to Develop More Grit:
1. Discover Your Interests - When you know what you are interested in then it makes doing the work easier. Recognize your genuine interests and passions. Know what you care about and where your mind wanders because passion forms the foundation for your grit.
2. Define Your Goals - When you know where you are headed and why, then it makes getting there easier.
โข Remove distractions and define your priorities.
โข Define what goals you want to hit and WHY.
Then set stretch goals because you want challenging objectives to test your grit.
3. Practice Deliberately - The key to grit and growth is being detailed and intentional about what you do.
โข Concentrate deeply on your work and practice.
โข Understand how to get into a flow state and be consistent about your practice.
Regular, purposeful practice is essential for skill development and grit.
4. Create a Support System - In any journey there will be obstacles so create a support system led by yourself and supported by others. Practice optimistic self-talk by updating your beliefs, removing negative self-talk, and developing a positive inner dialogue. Also, set up an external support system from mentors, coaches, or peers.
5. Reflect and Grow - Developing resilience and grit is a long-term journey so constantly look to reflect, get feedback, and improve. Seek feedback on your performance and look to improve.
โข Developing a growth-mindset is the best way to develop grit (especially for children).
โข It is not about the end result, but constantly striving to grow and improve
"Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint." - Angela Duckworth

Navy SEALs have a saying.
You may find it helpful.
When something sucks, they look at each other and say:
"FULL BENEFIT"
Itโs an instant mindset shift.
โข Hiking and it starts pouring rain?
โข Driving and your car breaks down?
โข Working on a project and lost a draft?
FULL BENEFIT.

LESSON: Adversity is an opportunity
The message is simple.
Every adversity is an opportunity.
โข To grow
โข To learn
โข To evolve
โข To get stronger
โข To become better
These moments forge us if we let them.
The next time you're facing something hard, welcome it.
Work through the process.
Learn the lessons.
Reap the full benefit.
