On this very day 234 years ago, America lost a hero, a founding father, an inventor, an ordained minister, and a president.
Ben Franklin spent his entire 84 years on this planet as a citizen of the United States of America. And during that time, he literally invented electricity, freedom, currency, Christianity, and democracy. He wrote the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office on the same day. Much like Dolly Parton writing I Will Always Love You and Jolene on the same day, except much more impressive.
I am not ashamed to admit I wept openly, and at times uncontrollably, this morning as I thought about what we lost on this day in 1790.
We miss you, President Franklin. We miss you every day.
