guy in my private discord made $240k his first year trading
dropped out of college at 19
his parents still think he's "ruining his life"
thanksgiving dinner last month his dad said:
"so when are you getting a real job?"
"I made $22k last month"
"doing what, gambling?"
"trading futures"
"that's not a real career"
"I made more than you this year"
"money isn't everything"
"you've said money IS everything my whole life"
"that's different"
"how"
"because I worked for mine"
"I work 2 hours a day"
"exactly. that's not real work"
"so suffering = real work?"
"..."
his mom jumped in:
"your father just wants what's best for you"
"what's best for me is freedom"
"freedom doesn't pay bills"
"I paid off your mortgage last month"
"..."
the conversation ended there
here's what nobody tells you about escaping the matrix:
the people who love you will hate your success
not because they're evil
because your success exposes their failure
every dollar you make trading is a reminder that THEY could have taken the risk
but didn't
so they need you to fail
to validate their "safe" choices
your success is their mirror
and they don't like what they see
his dad didn't work harder than him
his dad worked LONGER than him
for LESS money
with ZERO freedom
and instead of being proud his son escaped...
he's angry his son exposed the lie he believed for 40 years
"hard work = success" is cope for people who worked hard and aren't successful
smart work = success
skilled work = success
leveraged work = success
hard work alone = a 40-year sentence with a retirement cake at the end
the people telling you trading "isn't real" are the same people who:
wake up to alarms they hate
commute to buildings they hate
work for bosses they hate
wait for fridays they waste
retire too broken to enjoy it
and they want you to join them
misery loves company
but you don't have to RSVP
the matrix isn't a job
the matrix is everyone trying to pull you back in when you try to leave
escape anyway
met a surgeon in the hospital waiting room
(long story, everyone's fine)
we got talking
"what do you do?"
"I trade for a living"
he laughed
"so you gamble"
"I made $340k+ last year working 2 hours a day"
he stopped laughing
"that's more than I make"
"I know"
"I did 12 years of school and residency"
"I did 18 months of losing money and figuring it out"
"that's not fair"
"no. it's not. that's why I do it"
here's the thing about "fair":
fair is a concept for employees
the market doesn't care about:
- your degree
- your hours worked
- your experience
- your background
- your age
- your connections
the market only cares about:
are you right or wrong?
that's it
a 22 year old with no degree can outlearn a harvard MBA in 18 months and make more money
is that fair?
no
it's better than fair
it's OPPORTUNITY
that surgeon traded 12 years of his life for a salary cap
I traded 18 months of pain for unlimited upside
he's stuck
I'm free
the system wants you to believe:
"work hard for 40 years and retire at 65"
that's the employee path
the trader path:
"lose money for 1-2 years learning, then print for life"
one path trades your TIME for money until you die
one path trades SKILL for money until you're free
the surgeon will work until he's 65
I could stop tomorrow
same intelligence
same work ethic
different vehicle
he chose the "safe" path
I chose the "risky" path
10 years from now:
he's still operating at 5am
I'm still sleeping until I want to wake up
"but trading is risky"
so is giving 50 years to a job that
On your trading journey
You will blow your account
You will have dark nights
You will be scared for the future.
However if you continue to push through the dark times and continue to learn you will learn a skill that will sustain you for life.
Nothing great in life comes easy.
At the start, trading will take everything away from you.
Your money spent, time wasted, and family lost.
But once you figure it out, it will all be worth it in the end.
