People didn’t actually think Nebraska would be competent enough to win this game, right?
Could’ve been up 4 scores & it wouldn’t have mattered.
It’s the same song & dance. Even w/ Cignetti doing everything he could to lose this game.
But at least Matt Rhule was in a tv show, so we got that going for us!
You can’t point the finger at one play and say that it was the sole reason we lost us the game, but these missed early game chip shot field goals are absolutely crippling and always comes back to haunt us.
I mean, I seriously can’t help but feel that Nebraska would easily have 15+ more wins over the past decade if we were just somewhat respectable in our FG%.
Obviously there’s more to winning/losing than that, but it has clearly been our kryptonite.
Get out of here with moral victories. You led 17-6 in the fourth quarter. Anyone with eyes knew this was a good football team, but to have it in your lap and fumble it away? All too predictable and evidence that nothing’s changed.
So. Much. Pain. It follows the exact script we know by heart. But for me this is not the hopeless feeling of USC 2025 or Iowa 2024 or Wisconsin 2023 or so many others. Not even close. 5-1 and another bite at the exact same apple next week that would erase this.
