WEMBY JUST DROPPED A BAR:
"The lack of experience is a strength of us...because we could do impossible stuff because we don't know it's impossible" 🥶
(h/t @ohnohedidnt24)
Knicks lost these two games because they’ve had no scheme adjustment to the Spurs, plus sloppy play and bad shooting
But this Finals has put a spotlight on how inept the officiating has been, as this tweet says it’s the simple little stuff and they’re just totally missing It
We've seen some extremely bizarre missed calls this series. There's been a lot of focus on the levels of physicality allowed, but to me, the bigger issue is just like... missing goaltends, allowing an obvious double dribble, not controlling a sub situation etc. Just bad misses.
See this is the thing with physical basketball. Let it be physical or call touch stuff.
Jalen Brunson and Castle are both being physical here initially. Castle is hand checking and grabbing jersey and Brunson is using his hands to separate and clear himself.
Then Brunson does a fairly typical forearm shiver, and does NOT EXTEND his arm and Castle takes this as a chance to throw his head back to try and seek a call while grabbing Brunson down.
Castle is then rewarded with a call and won an extra possession for his team. And Castle knows he should play like this because every other game this series has rewarded him specifically with this play.
Zarba hates the Knicks and KAT especially, one of if not the only ref the 2026 Knicks have a losing record with
Tonight will be the same as the first 3 games no reason that will change, what can change is Knicks regain focus and limit turnovers so they can win
When people say the FT disparity is overblown, this is the plays that we’re referring to
Knicks and Spurs through 3 games have been officiated to be playing 2 different sports
Don’t expect this to change tonight so hoping Knicks go in with more focus than game 3
One way to beat ball pressure is Pistol 5 "Get" action. Castle's bump and run coverage makes that impossible. Two hands impeding his movement with the trail official watching it all unfold. Brunson reacts with a forearm. Castle flops and gets the call.
All the talk about the big bad western conference and they’ve had to result to dirty plays and getting bailed out by NBA 9pm Stanley Cup news dumps lmao
No flagrant upgrade on the uncalled foul of Spurs' Victor Wembanyama to Knicks' Jalen Brunson on Monday night, a league spokesperson tells ESPN. Wembanyama will stay at two flagrant points in postseason.
This was among the most lopsided, poorly officiated games I’ve ever seen. Here is a thread of all the terrible calls starting with Wemby chokeslamming Brunson. This was clean.
It sucks that hating on Wemby for his performance tonight is gonna seem like sour grapes post Knicks loss but man this is the guy the NBA and officials are breaking theirs back to make the face of the league?
"Anybody but Jalen - make someone else shoot the ball"
De'Aaron Fox on the Spurs' defense against Jalen Brunson in Game 1 and how they'll approach the rest of the series
KAT has been the most consistently great player this entire playoffs. If you still talking about “he can’t defend” you are not paying attention (and a lot of you are not)
