@GergelyOrosz To be honest, this is a net positive. As both an interviewer and candidate , I’d rather have the opportunity to make a personal connection to a future teammate.
Competitive advantage for those engineers who invest in developing relationships (which is key to doing the job well)
Second time’s the charm. Congrats to the @Eagles, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Nick Sirianni and an outstanding defense for winning one for Philly. You earned it!
Tonight, Jewish families around the world will begin the celebration of Passover with the traditional seder meal. Michelle and I loved the seders we held in the White House, and the story of Passover – with its focus on resilience, redemption, and renewal in the face of persecution and uncertainty. Today it rings even more true.
This Passover, let’s remember everyone who is unable to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones. And in a time when there’s been so much suffering and loss in Israel and Gaza, let’s reaffirm our commitment to the Jewish people, and people of all religions, who deserve to feel safe and secure wherever they live and practice their faith. Chag Sameach.
The growing antisemitism right now is super scary.
Just as threatening as the overt antisemitism is the more disguised kind, where people think they are being righteous, and perhaps don’t even quite understand what they’re doing.
New York City has the largest Jewish population in the world outside of Israel, and we stand side by side with Israel every day — but we do so with extra resolve tonight.
@jdegoes By complexity are you mostly referring to context switching?
Also, what are your thoughts on virtual threads (M:N relationship between user space “threads” and kernel/os threads)? It seems like a lot of languages/libraries are embracing virtual threads.
I’d be curious how many orgs have had success deploying distributed dbs to prod WITHOUT a platform team to support it. Seems like quite a bit of work to do, and something most developers probably don’t want to deal with.
It’s pretty incredible how far you can get building #microservices on #dynamodb backend. Between atomic conditional updates, optimistic locking, and tunable consistent reads, I feel like you can meet most requirements. Assuming a denormalized data model works for you.
@rockthejvm I’m curious - do you know what paradigms twitter’s scala repo’s are using? Purely functional with effects libraries like #cats-effect , or scala as a less verbose java?
I’d be very curious to know how many teams out there writing #scala are using purely functional code + effects libs vs using scala as just a less-verbose Java.
Been cookin a lil something:

AI Powered log analysis with context from all your apps (built by two devs who hate logs)
We want to eliminate manual log sifting & data gathering across data sources to save devs time. Lmk wyt 🫡
