@LauraLoomer I've seen it in action as a chemical engineer where a drug on patent in the US was being blatantly copied in countries throughout the world including India and China. The small molecule (usually) can then be synthesized large scale using reverse engineering.

@RepLuna Untrue. We have the most productive agricultural system in the world in the US. We could go back in time over 200 years to having zero pesticides or herbicides and then become a net importer of food in the US. Please use some common sense.

Likewise, Israel is a western country based on western rule of law and a huge huge ally of the US. The only ally that raped widely was the Russians during WW2, however the Nazis killed 20 million of their people.

@MichaelCasey_ @RepOgles Highly doubtful. The concept would have been foreign to them. They needed all the people they could get at the time and the US was actually quite poor up until the late 19th century. They would have wondered why you would have needed to try to get people out.

@RepOgles I'm not so sure. For one thing, Washington would wonder why we have so many federal agencies (Secretary of Agriculture? ICE?) There was major debate on even having a federal bank at the time. Second, the country needed all the people they could get at that time to explore the US.

@NRA The optics on this look very bad. ICE is immigration and customs enforcement. They shouldn't be interacting with American citizens. Secondly, the man was legally carrying, did not point the gun at agents, and was unarmed when shot by 5 agents on the ground from videos I saw
