Look around at all that our public school graduates are doing and achieving! Don't tell me our public schools are failing. Public education built our country. Public education drives our country. And public education is worth our investment, our energy, and our commitment.
“…Our community rejected voucher schemes…and our community will continue to defend public education from political theatrics designed to distract and divide.” We welcome honest conversation about how we can improve. The must be rooted in facts and our work for students.
Actually, the full quotation was, “It’s no surprise that some would seize the opportunity to take a swipe at local institutions like ours, but they are barking up the wrong tree. We don’t need lectures from those pushing policies that harm working families and children.…”
Three federal courts have temporarily blocked Trump admin from enforcing legally dubious “Dear Colleague” letter FCPS declined to sign. Our policies aren’t set by letters or executive fiat. We remain in compliance with law & will keep doing right by students, staff, & families.
Pope Francis took seriously the call to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly. He led with grace, using his position to advocate for the downtrodden. He reminded us of the worth and dignity of every human life and the vast, all-encompasing reach of God’s love and grace.
“To live in the light of the resurrection—that is what Easter means.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
On this Easter, in a world darkened by hate, by indifference, by greed, may we strive to live in the light of resurrection to brighten the experience of those on this journey with us.
Sen, Ted Cruz: "I can also assure you that were this a Republican president, a Republican Attorney General, and a Republican IRS that were targeting Democrats, I at least would speak out just as vigorously against it because if we are going to respect rule of law, the apparatus of the federal government cannot and should not be used as a partisan tool to bludgeon your enemies."
WATCH: The College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy came apart during a White House visit by the Ohio State Buckeyes football team Monday as Vice President JD Vance tried to pick it up.
Wisconsin voters sent a clear and resounding message to Elon Musk and the rest of the country: the votes of the people are not for sale. That’s a message that every member of Congress must hear: in this country, power belongs to the people not the world’s richest man.
American war planning usually takes place in highly secure facilities. But the Trump administration planned its strikes on the Houthis using a group chat—and accidentally included The Atlantic’s editor in chief, @JeffreyGoldberg. https://t.co/jvBzeJwEuy
Do you think RFK, Jr., should be in charge of special education?
It’s a no for me.
Call Congress at 202-224-3121 and tell them not to hand the education of our children who need the most support over to someone who probably couldn’t even tell us what “IEP” stands for.
President Trump on Education Dept. programs: "The Small Business Administration...will handle all of the student loan portfolio...and also Bobby Kennedy...will be handling special needs and all of the nutrition programs and everything else. Rather complex."
Then why do y’all keep ignoring what those of us “closest to the student” are saying? These actions don’t empower local districts, they undermine our work.
The Department of Education administers programs vital to families and educators in Fayette County. These lawless actions are reckless and irresponsible.

St Patrick’s Day provides a unique and special moment to connect with people around the world of Irish descent, and to showcase Irish culture and heritage.
A bill that is moving through the general assembly would require Kentucky students to start their school day with a "moment of silence or reflection." https://t.co/hhKBE9f4ao
She’s “concerned” but her decisive vote in committee for McMahon’s nomination helped set much of this in motion. The children and educators who rely on these vital programs don’t just need Collins’ concerns—they need courage and checks & balances.
Sen Collins is concerned re “deep” Dept of Ed cuts
“They strike me as very deep,” she told @mkraju
“Ive asked Qs about whether its possible to still administer important programs like Title 1, IDA, trio programs, student loan programs w cuts of those size. I am awaiting info”
Saw the same thing in her confirmation hearing…unable to answer even basic questions about education in this country and yet wants to dismantle the department charged with opening doors of opportunities for every child. It’s all an embarrassing and shameful spectacle.
McMahon: Congress appropriates the money going through title 1 through idea programs.
Ingraham: What does that stand for?
McMahon: I'm not sure can I tell you exactly what it stands for…
This isn’t about giving education “back to the states.” It’s about handing it over to privatizers and putting our kids’ education for sale to the highest bidder. Attempting to illegally dismantle Dept. of Ed actually undermines local districts & our work to support students.
