Yes!! This was my experience of faculty meetings in higher ed—so much talk of students as if they are our antagonists. I wish more teachers would recognize and treat students as collaborators. It's not only better for collective learning but also so much more fun!
It's ok to admit the bible includes ideas that are sexist, anti-queer, colonizing, violent, etc. It doesn't mean God is those things. Or that we should be. Re-imagining and re-interpreting are great responses and sometimes most useful. But saying "no" to a text is ok too.
Blessed be the labors of those who made it possible.
Blessed be the journey we still have ahead.
Blessed be the memory of those who never saw the day.
Blessed be the courage of the queer and trans faithful.
Blessed be the gift of justice that breaks through. 🏳️🌈
Beloved One,
You created us in your image,
Divine Life within.
Equipped for healing,
You make us capable of right-ing relationships.
To history. To each other. To the planet. To our futures.
You wove courage into our bones,
and the want for each other into our flesh.
These days call for truth-tellers and healers and revealers, the ones who remind us what matters most, what wisdom lives in our past, what futures call to us, and the courage we are capable of practicing to show up fully to one another in the hardest of situations.
May #Pride month be a source of sustenance, a call to solidarity, & a witness to our Sacred power and Strange offerings. In service to our collective need for spiritual nourishment as we labor for justice, we invite submissions to the Vita Divina project. https://t.co/xEJkJnvXXq
“People in the movement are shifting: They are not calling for body cameras and more training. More and more people are like, ‘Fuck that, take their money away.’” https://t.co/gvfy7L4DJj
Queerphobic Christianity: the bible says queers are a sin - see Sodom and Gomorrah!
The Bible: "Now this was the sin of Sodom: the people were arrogant, unconcerned, and indulgent,; they did not help the ones in poverty or oppression." (Ezekiel 16:49)
In this season of Easter, of seeking life in the midst of destruction, we are so pleased to release our updated logo inspired by our desire to "bring what matters back to the gospel for justice, liberation, and delight." May it be so.
enfleshed is growing our board! Consider applying to join our team of people passionate about bringing what matters back to the gospel for justice, liberation, and delight. Applications open through March. https://t.co/8ojkFIMDnp
Bad take: covid-19 is god's punishment and the world is ending in the whole "left behind" way
Actual apocalyptic (apocalypse = unveiling) take in alignment w/Revelation - covid-19 is making plain and clear how fragile this "age" is, how weak the "powerful," - all empires crumble
The coming pandemic is exposing every moral failure of the economic, social and political organization of this society. This is a time to rededicate ourselves to care AND the courage necessary to pursue a different way of being in relation to each other.
The complaint in the #UMC against @enfleshed enfleshed's theologian-in-residence, Rev. Anna Blaedel, has been "resolved." Learn more at https://t.co/6oUA8wBUV1 #FaithfullyLGBT
