“We fled in fear. Fear that what was broken might not be salvaged. Millions whispered the same question: ‘What if the country never recovers?’”
My latest @BaptistLeaders—on 9/11, and how America processed her grief in the aftermath.
With the rise of Islam in America and New York City electing a Muslim mayor, many thought that the commemoration of 9/11 felt different this year.
We said we would never forget. Did we? Or did we never grieve properly?

There’s a lot of courage in this video.
@WilliamWolfe, for speaking bluntly about the New Right and American/Israeli relations.
@NatConTalk, for platforming him, @AmandaMilius, @L0m3z and @docMJP.
This is what adult coalitional behavior looks like. We need a lot more of it!
There is no other Southern Baptist quite so providentially equipped to be having this conversation. Glad @WilliamWolfe was invited to speak bluntly, and did so.
I don't understand why some are dismissing William's take here because he hasn't served. So what? He's not cosplaying like he did. He's pointing to the sobering reality downstream from decades of aggressive deployments in the GWOT era that a nation feels weary and is hesitant to commit to another enduring conflict.
My unit (1/7) met last year for the first time in almost 20 years. The number of suicides has risen from 9 to 12. Should we disqualify the weariness & grief of the wives, children and friends of these now gone Marines because they "never served"? How rotten. We who are left are burdened by the loss of those who died in combat and by their own hand. Let's rise above this nonsense that only those who served can ever speak about the weariness war brings.
@JoelWBerry I was an Army reconnaissance infantryman with the 82nd Airborne. Who cares?
Why don’t you stop using your service as a shield and argue the actual issues with @WilliamWolfe?
Totally feminine behavior.
The anti-Vance astroturfing is wild. For better or worse, the right falls into two camps: “burn it all down,” or Vance.
Pretending there is a relevant third choice is just wishcasting.
JD Vance has 95% support from self-identified MAGA voters according to a recent CNN poll. Sorry, I'm not going to ignore reality for your weird pet issues.
@tyler_austin55 I remember going once a year when I was a kid. They had an awesome deal for military families, and it was all kid-centered.
It’s really pathetic to see childless adults spending $10k+ a year on it now.
“Americans are war-weary. You might say, ‘Join the club.’ But we are not you [Israel]... [Even] many global war on terror veterans are disillusioned."
— @WilliamWolfe at NatCon Jerusalem.
"I love my Southern Baptist brothers who are dispensationalists, but the reality is that theology is waning in the US and simply saying 'because the Bible says so,' in light of these very difficult conversations, isn't going to work."
— @WilliamWolfe at NatCon Jerusalem
It's true! It also was a friendly joke, and @L0m3z did great!
But there is this weird cowardice on the American Right, the idea that White American conservative Christian men need a minority, or a woman, etc., to say something for them that might be "offensive" if they said it.
We don't. If something is true, it is true, regardless of who is saying it!
“The West’s oldest stories are pre-Christian, and the church has long argued over what to do with them. As Alcuin famously asked in 797, ‘What has Ingeld to do with Christ?’”
My latest essay at @AmReformer is a Reformed defense of pagan mythmaking. Does the Christian have anything to gain from reading Beowulf?
I am publishing under my family name now, Tittermary. Our name is unique to Philadelphia’s history, going back to 1753, and will die out this generation. I am working on preserving it.
