That is true respect. I think if “respect” is what we are truly after, we have to look at the actions of athletes that are more telling of their level of respect for us, not just by how we are called… 5/5
“Coach”
The title of “coach” is more watered down than ever before. I think some create an association with the title and having respect for the individual. When a player doesn’t refer to them as “coach …” they feel it is a sign of disrespect. At the surface level… 1/5
between a parent and child (depending on the parenting style). Just as players may not call you “coach” but they would go to war for you because they know you have their best interest at heart, work for them, and sacrifice for them, so they are willing to do the same... 4/5
