Many thanks to the council team who showed Cllr Tom around our Solar PV array at Killingworth today.
“Going Green “ isn’t just about the 🐦🦚🐝🌳it’s often about the cold hard cash 💷💻of energy & savings/revenue, as both businesses & public estate in our borough are discovering.
Tynemouth on the front page of the new National Road Safety Strategy! Do you recognise any of the people pictured?
Still reading through but there’s some great stuff in there including better guidance on reducing traffic speed & a Safe Systems Approach👏🏼👏🏼

Enjoy the snow, #tynemouth. Some info below on council gritting & what you can do yourself. It will freeze overnight, we hold a small stock of grit ourselves locally so if in the morning you spot somewhere especially hazardous ❄️🧊⚠️ please message us & will C if we can help
Street Surgeries recommence weekend of 3rd Jan 🗓️, so let us know if you’d like us to book you in. In the meantime we’re wishing you all the best for 2026🥳 & looking forward to working with you all to continue improving our area.
Thanks to the hardworking local Santa Tracking Team at Tynemouth Priory working through the night to keep a close eye on NorthEast airspace. NORAD has confirmed systems & the link to Tynemouth R fully operational. Our thoughts are also with the central tracking team in Colorado
And when history asks, “Did you know him, old sport?”
Nigel will smile and reply with retort:
“I may have said hello… or perhaps not at all—
You see, I was busy— in Brussels’ great hall!”
Nigel Never Knew Nathan, Russians, you say?
A Cautionary Tale of Selective Memory
Old Nigel stood puffed by the Channel’s blue air,
With a pint and a grin and a well-practised stare.
“Now don’t point your fingers, don’t make such a fuss—
I barely recall who this Nathan chap was!”
The cameras all clicked, and the journos all laughed,
At Nigel’s new memory, thoroughly daft.
For once every comrade turns headline or foe,
He suddenly finds he “just didn’t quite know.”
Oh, politics’ stage is a marvellous play,
Where yesterday’s mates are denied the next day.
So raise up your glass, to the Farage technique—
Forgetfulness blooming at least once a week!
Disappointing to hear & well done to Susan for calling this out. Would suggest that some politicians in our borough think long & hard about the language that they are using & the impact this has on our residents.

Tom is at Labour Conference today, so of course is taking a swim with @sascampaigns , great to chat to other coastal Cllrs & MPs about this vital issue 👏🏼👏🏼🏊♂️🏄♀️🌊
Tommy Robinson's brand of hate and division offers the people of the North East absolutely nothing. He won't create jobs, he won't do anything to reduce your energy bills, he won't make your local transport better.
All he offers is hate, and too often violence, and there is no place for any of that in this region.
I look around our region and see a North East that is proud and welcoming. This is a place where families have come from all over the world to work in our hospitals and care homes. They are our friends, our neighbours, people who we play or watch football with and have a laugh with at work or on a night out, people who have built up businesses, employing others and who work hard and contribute a great deal.
If his group comes here to launch a new political party on Saturday, we make clear we see them for what they are. We won’t be fooled by Tommy Robinson. He simply does not belong here.
