On a beautiful spring day we decided to take our learning outside. We used our new skill of measuring with a ruler to find the length of all sorts of natural materials.

After learning a bit more about the zones of regulation the children made a biscuit to show the different zones, green, red, yellow and blue. Can you guess how each biscuit is feeling? We were all feeling pretty ‘green’ when we got to eat them!

We are learning about the artist Georgia O’Keefe in art this term. We started by painting a picture using warm and cool colours.

Today we had to pretend to interview the great explorer Amelia Earhart. We thought of some really fantastic questions. I liked ‘do you like to sing while you’re flying?’ I wonder if she did!

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day today. We wrote about our characters in English, had some year 5 friends come to read and make bookmarks with us and really enjoyed the new book Miss Buckley bought us too!

Learning the days of the week in French. We had some great help from the children who already knew the song.

This week we have been using our tens frames to work out addition sentences and number bonds to 20.

We joined in with national ‘mother tongue’ day by learning some words in Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Korean and Telugu.

This week we have started to explore place value within 20. The children came up with some fantastic ways to ‘show me what you know’. Well done 1CM!
