@carlblong @JSEllenberg These look great, thanks! We both have a fascination with fractals so will definitely be passing that on. Although I’m scared to recommend “How not to be wrong” to my brother with a law degree 🤣. That’s been his entire life mission 😆
Ok #MTBoS, looking for book suggestions for my brother:
What are our favorite books addressing the overarching ideas of math? (He’s read Infinite Powers and How to Bake Pi). Looking for things like how different areas are connected.
He really likes to think deeply about things
@cmmteach We moved to FACTS last year. Shockingly it is better than what we had which is now defunct and whose platform looked like it hadn’t been updated since 2003 😳
I’m having to embrace the alarm life for this season: to pack up to go to preschool, time to leave to pickup from home, time to leave to pickup from school (two different times depending on my teaching schedule), time to walk from my office to class. Yikes. Is there an app?
@Dsrussosusan Yeah, last year my parents watched her so I only had to keep track of my teaching schedule. Now it’s: work Days 1, 2, 3, 5. Days 2 and 3 pick up at 1, every other day is pickup at 12 (different leave times depending on if I’m at work or school). Classes start at diff times
@Dsrussosusan Forgot about my Fitbit - I haven’t charged it since I took it off in the hospital to have my daughter 🤣
The biggest problem is working on a rotating schedule so things are never the same day of the week.
I know GC can send you a notification a certain amount of time before things but I need an actual alarm going off. Currently I’m turning on and off alarms in my native clock/alarm app on iPhone.
@ddmeyer I feel like Stats land has been one of the hardest places to talk about standards based grading because it is so much more laborious to write the prompts compared to something like writing 4 more factoring problems. Hoping this might encourage more to try.
@ddmeyer so today I had a student who wanted to reassess our quiz last week, I was able to go back to my chat in chatgpt and have it write new questions. I had a new quiz ready in about 5 minutes for this student!
