THE PAPER MUSEUM is out in the world today! What better way to celebrate than with a typewriter cookie and tea?
Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this happen! @TracyMarchini @ardyceelaine@bookendslit@UnionSquareKids

250 years ago today, #JaneAusten was born. She was a writer known primarily for her six novels. Her use of irony, humour and social commentary, have long earned her acclaim among scholars. She remains one of the most successful writers of all times. WE LOVE YOU JANE AUSTEN! 🎉🎉

@ElliottBlackwe3 Reading is the best! If your students are interested in light sci-fi (with a little bit of magic) I’d be happy to send some copies of The Paper Museum https://t.co/z9O279Rzwc
Typewriter fans take note:
We recently received a donation of thirty typewriters from the Rossi family. Many thanks!

@han_oreilly I wonder if there are articles/interviews with Shannon Hale about this—she’s written many kidlit books and also the amazing adult romcom Austenland
Gosh I've fallen behind in posting here. My bucket list interview with the incomparable Kate DiCamillo is now live. We talk about everything from fairytales to Because of Winn Dixie to her method of writing books to our love of dogs. Listen to it here: https://t.co/aAenoOdDJK
Over the weekend, a report called “Why typewriters are having a renaissance in the digital age” aired on the PBS News Weekend show.

September is Library Card Sign Up Month.
If you don’t have a library card or used to have one but aren’t sure what might have happened to it, now the perfect time to stop by your local library and get a new or replacement card.
Library cards are free, available to any one of any age, and they get you access to so many things — print and audio books, music, movies, and online databases. Depending on where you live, your library might offer other items for checkout like musical instruments, seeds or plants, pots and pans, artwork, games, craft supplies, passes to local attractions, laptops, and so much more.
I’m making several videos for Library Card Sign Up Month. Thanks to everyone who sent me a picture of their library card. If it’s not included here, it will be in an upcoming reel.

10 years ago I was still stuck in the query trenches (lost & confused). Here’s a few things I’ve learned about writing/publishing in the past decade 🧵
1. Resilience. Rejection is part of the job. It gets easier. It’s not that your work isn’t good it’s that it isn’t a good fit.
I got 16 kids signed up to go on our annual BOOK CLUB field trip, which is an amazing number. And I know you're wondering what a BOOK CLUB FIELD TRIP entails and it is literally that we ride the bus to the public library but when I tell you they are SO EXCITED about it...
