Damn this Windows smart screen stuff. I've submitted the app to the Windows store. That's the only way to get a new app, new company up without scary warnings. I do already have the smart screen and the app is signed on Windows, but they have to build trust. It's terrible. But Windows Store will fix it. Windows scans it completely and then they list it.
But Mac is much better. They scan it once and then trust it. So we got Mac versions coming. The Mac version has been worked on for the last few months. Especially when I went on holidays and only took my Mac. But yeah, it's been brought front and center.
Yeah, why not? Why not change your effing oil? These places like 10-minute oil change and stuff, they say that it's half-synthetic or synthetic and stuff. It's all just this real no-name oil you might as well just buy some Costco Mobile One or something, the good stuff, and do it yourself. If you buy some ramps or even just drive it up on a gutter, if it's an SUV, you can so easily do it in 20 minutes.
@DingasMacgregor@MJCFORFREE@BarbellFi Exactly. Really, if your car is not required by warranty to go to a service place, you're paying a lot of money to a dealer if you just walk in and say, "Look, do whatever you want." It's amazing how people think that they got no money when they do stuff like that
Me being a 2 under 2 house husband 36 hours a week while the wife does nursing.. Well, I build a few startups and work 40 hours a week. I don't know what he's talking about. Oh, okay.,,,,
Yeah. This is America. God bless the USA. We came here three years ago. And we're in our groove here. A child a year, almost, and a house in our third year. We close tomorrow. God bless.
Fast food is actually very expensive in America. In Australia, it costs about$20 Australian to eat at KFC. And it costs about$23 USD in America. It it feels like about forty percent more.
But the thing is, in America, vegetables, meat, milk, all your groceries are so much cheaper. So if you just don't eat out of McDonald's like a fool, you'll be fine. I'm not saying that occasional takeaway food is so bad, but eating that crap all the time is just so expensive and just so ruinous for everything in your life. Especially if you don't have much money.
The key is to get remote work. Then it doesn't matter where you live. You can even go and live in another country. Most of the time.
And it does not have to be too small a town. We just bought a house on an acre really nice house, 360,000, in Winston-Salem, Camel City, a city of 300,000 people. There are plenty of decent homes available for 2 to 250 here.
@Owennfa Also wow, you're complaining when your parents have property? You're so much better off than a lot of people that their parents have absolutely nothing.
@Owennfa Okay, so that was around three times his annual wage. It's not that much worse. You're much better off in America than so many other countries. In Australia, Sydney, it is 15 times the average wage.
There's also a fixer upper loan. They'll give you up to 75,000 bucks to fixerupper it without having to have a complete contractor's quote. Deposit, I think it's 3.8%, It might be 5%, that you have to put up yourself in cash.
But you could buy a fixer upper, and do pretty well out of it if you're willing to put a bit of work in.
If you were somebody that could only earn minimum wage, then that would be a great way to get into a property.
@itsbullionaire_ You can get an FHA loan 3.8% deeposit. The government will give you 15,000 bucks. You don't need that 20%. I don't know what people are talking about.
@TonyLaneNV ER nurse is pretty heavy! She earns her money.
All kinds of nursing is a hard job mentally and physically. The things that she would see over a week! I'm sure I wouldn't last an hour.
Well, they could lose it, you know, which is probably what I would have done when I was young. If I inherited property in my 20s, probably wouldn't have a cent of it now. People's parents work hard or maybe they didn't work hard, but they still managed to get some kind of property to leave their children.
Me and the wife have a $4,000 a month bill now. That includes insurance, property tax, and putting a bit of money away for maintenance. So, you know, we're doing the hard yards. Not everybody just woke up one day and had some kind of property. We're buying probably almost at close to the top of the market, but we don't care. Our kids are going to have an acre of land with a house on it. And it's going to be mostly paid off or all paid off by the time they're 18 years old.
Plus, that two to three thousand a month to renting it at, you have to account for all the damage and risk. It's not worth renting a house. I wouldn't do it. I would probably just mothball the property if I had a spare one.
I've worked doing NetOps/DevOps at a pretty large scale 11yo B2B SaaS an AWS shop for the last 1.5yrs. It has taught me a lot about testing, smoke, beta testing, the processes of releasing software. But the number one thing that kills everything is regressions. And feature lock off is a big one as well! All of the stuff that I've proposed to them and has been knocked back or just not implemented, has been implemented in what I'm doing. I have a million synthetic canaries that go over the system and make sure there's no regressions.
The first users are paid beta testers at five bucks a go! Plus they get to keep it free for a year, worth around a hundred dollars to them. And this dude here on his I5 laptop with seven gig of RAM, the local transcriptions take 26 seconds to transcribe 9 seconds of speech.. So yeah, this dude now has a 24GB L4 GPU connected to his notebook for speech.
