Sony is currently charging $70 for God of War Ragnarok digitally. It is $32 at Wal-Mart. The game is 4 years old.

People will no longer have options after 2028 and will HAVE to go directly to Sony’s digital storefront and pay whatever PlayStation says.

Sony killed physical games because ownership gets in the way of control. A disc is yours and they don’t like that. They didn’t sell us the future of gaming. They sold us permission to play. If buying a game doesn’t mean owning it, then “buy” has lost its meaning.

When you buy a digital game, you purchase a limited, revocable license to play it—not ownership of the game itself.

Platform EULAs (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.) make this clear: the license is non-transferable, tied to your account, and can be revoked for violations or if the service changes. You can't resell it like a physical disc.

Physical copies give you actual possession and resale rights. Digital is convenient but comes with those strings.
