"Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world." - Malala Yousafzai
On #NationalWritingDay we recognise the importance of the pen and writing. Writing is empowering: it is how we think, plan, connect and create.

We're so proud of our learners who took part in a parliamentary debate on the loss of the love of learning. They talked about the importance of oracy, social interaction, wellbeing benefits of extracurricular activities & their wish to see more diversity within the Curriculum.
Learners are enjoying the selection of books on offer and have plenty of choice to keep them entertained during the Easter holidays! #readingforpleasure#ShareYourFair
Our Scholastic Book Fair for learners is running this week: Monday-Thursday and again after the Easter break: Tuesday 22 - Thursday 24 April.
All books are discounted by £1 and there will be a selection of books to choose from FOR FREE when buying a book. 📚

What a day we had in London yesterday with @TeamModeshift and we came back as WINNERS🌟National Secondary School of the Year 2024/25. Our learners attended the event @royalsociety where they delivered their presentation to gain this prestigious honour. #BatleyBrilliance#proud
Today we're celebrating #TECHOGNITION the national celebration of technical staff in schools and colleges.
Our amazing technicians provide essential support, but also go above and beyond - even setting up a live feed so our learners can see chicks hatching!
#BatleyBrilliance 🌟
So proud of our two teams of learners who took part in the National Reading Champions Quiz regional heat today. 🤩📚
The competition was tough, but everyone did brilliantly and enjoyed the experience. We wish the winners all the best for the final in London in May. #NRCQuiz2025
Our three secondary schools hold the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks for good career guidance. Providing our learners with a range of career pathways, & the support to gain skills & realise their dreams, is essential. We know, you can't be what you can't see. #CareerOpportunities#NCW2025
What an inspiring visit from @DanFreedman99 this afternoon! Our learners were enthralled by his books & hearing about his experience of being an author. If only there was enough time for him to answer everyone's questions... We made time for a quick book signing though! #NCW2025
Forest School doesn't stop in all weathers - our learners love it - even cold days in February! 🥶
It teaches important life skills such as resilience, as well as practical skills. Here a learner is safely using a volcano kettle.
#forestschool#lifeskills
Our young people are more resilient than we give them credit for at times.
In a recent speech about not giving up, one learner stated:
"We need to unleash our unstoppable spirit, we need to persevere."
Good advice to us all! 💪💫
#ChildrensMentalHealthWeek#Resilience
It's #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek and the theme is: Know Yourself, Grow Yourself.
One of our Year 6 learners embodies this sentiment stating, in a public speaking event, "when you speak up, you're not just helping yourself, you're inspiring others".
We are certainly #inspired 🌟
This week is #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek and we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been awarded Gold by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools. It's our 3 year reaccreditation, which demonstrates our continued commitment to mental health here.
@talkthetalkUK@BatleyTrust That's wonderful to hear! They really enjoyed it as well as finding it useful, and it certainly helped them to develop their self-confidence.
Kindness was voted by children as the 2024 word of the year & this holds true with our values. It was also the theme of one of our Speech STARS in Year 6 who spoke about how "Kindness is a virtuous cycle that can create a ripple effect of positivity." #Kindness#KindnessMatters
Our learners enjoyed a fantastic workshop earlier this week delivered by @talkthetalkUK
Learners developed their oracy skills and communication confidence during the session, which allowed them to deliver a presentation by the end of the day. #confidentcommunication#oracy
During the last few weeks of term Year 7 learners raised a staggering £800 for Batley Food Bank, & whilst in Tesco buying our donations, we managed to get an additional £100 worth of supplies for @BatleyFoodBank
