🎨 Ireland’s Basic Income for the Arts didn’t just support artists — it paid off.
New cost-benefit analysis:
💶 €1 in = €1.39 out (~£0.86 in = £1.20 out)
📉 Net cost cut by 30% via tax + welfare savings
🧠 Wellbeing gains = €80m+ (~£69m)
It’s working. Let’s build on it. 🧵⬇️
Our deepest condolences to Hefin’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
Hefin supported our campaign for a #BasicIncome pilot in Wales.
Without his support - and others like him - the pilot wouldn’t have happened.
Cwsg mewn hedd, Hefin.
The concerns about #UBI is that a basic income for one person may be insufficient for another, depending on circumstances and need. However, a rigorously designed/ implemented pilot should test that. Wales may become the pioneer for something big #UBIWales https://t.co/pcrckbp21R
The results from Germany's 3-year UBI experiment are out!
122 people got €1200/mo for 3 years. All were age 21-40 and employed with €1100-€2600/mo pay.
They were happier, healthier, saved more, gave more, enjoyed more social time and DID NOT WORK LESS than the control group.
The gov pulled the plug on farm support with zero warning — and people wonder why trust in rural policy is collapsing.
A UBI for farmers isn’t radical. It’s survival.
Food security starts with income security.

From @AndyBurnhamGM ‘s 2024 manifesto:
“The logical next step, after the success of our @GMHousingFirst pilot, is to bring forward a #BasicIncome pilot"
This pilot proposal shows how this is possible, so we can reduce homelessness and poverty
For too long Universal Basic Income and Services have been pitched against each other. Instead, we need reform that builds on both! Everyone interested in welfare reform and #basicincome: check out this @UBIBath series on opendemocracy 👉🏻 https://t.co/AExr1IwL6w
