The All India Bank Officers Confederation ( AIBOC) representing over 3 lakh bankers , vehemently condemns the recent comments made by Sri Nripendra Mishra, Former Principal Secretary of the PMO, in his interview with ANI concerning the demonetization process.
In the widely circulated interview, Mr. Mishra criticized the alleged non-cooperation of bank employees, suggesting their involvement in facilitating the exchange of black money into white during the demonetization period. AIBOC finds such sweeping statements unjustifiable and unwarranted.
The comprehensive supervision exercised by government officials at all levels and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) during demonetization ensured the scrutiny of the entire process. Any deviations, if they occurred, were isolated incidents. Blaming the entire frontline bank workforce undermines the significant contributions made by bank employees across all levels.
AIBOC firmly rejects any insinuations regarding the dedication and loyalty of bank employees, especially considering the commendations from both the Honorable Prime Minister and Finance Minister for their relentless efforts during demonetization. Honorable Prime Minister had publicly acknowledged the hard work of bank employees, emphasizing their round-the-clock commitment and sacrifices.
It is essential to recognize that many bank employees faced extreme work pressure, with some even losing their lives during this challenging period. Numerous employees dealing with cash chose to stay at branches for extended periods, foregoing the comfort of their homes to provide seamless services to the nation.
The disparaging remarks made by Mr. Mishra, a former principal secretary, are both unwarranted and uncalled for. AIBOC emphasizes that any deviations, if proven, should not be generalized to tarnish the entire banking system's image. We demand the immediate withdrawal of Mr. Mishra's statement to uphold the morale of bank employees who have tirelessly served the nation.

🎂 Happy 39th Foundation Day, AIBOC! 🥳 Let's renew our commitment to building a prosperous nation through responsible banking and financial services. 💼 #UnitedAIBOCStrongNation#AIBOC39thFoundationDay
Respected Prime Minister,
We thank you for recognising and lauding dedicated Bank employees for their commendable efforts in implementing vital social security schemes. The share of Public Sector Banks is 97% in PM Jan Dhan Yojana, 96% PM in PM JeevanJyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and 93% in Atal Pension Yojana and Kisan Credit Cards, apart from significant lending to priority sector, infrastructure sector and strategic sectors.
We request your attention to the following pressing issues for the motivation and welfare of the Banking workforce:
1. Through digital transformation, the Banking services are made available 24x7 through various means for all citizens.
Thus, Implementing of a long pending issue of 5-day work week will enhance work-life balance and boost productivity, ensuring the well-being of employees. #5DayWorkWeek #WorkLifeBalance
2. Also, urgently addressing pending wage revision will recognize the hard work and dedication of employees, providing them with their rightful dues.
3. A prompt pension updation is necessary to secure the future of retired employees, offering them financial stability and peace of mind.
4. Introduction of an assured pension scheme will further safeguard the interests of the young workforce, providing them with a reliable and stable retirement plan.
5. The customer to employee ratio is not par in PSBs. Recruitment of adequate staff in Public Sector Banks would further strengthen the PSBs in serving the nation.
We hope you will consider these requests and take necessary actions for the betterment of the workforce. 🙏🏽
