Idiotic.
Could we stop with brain dead flag politics, please?
The left smeared the beautiful and historic Red Ensign as a symbol of white nationalism, despite 115,000 war dead having given their lives under the Ensign, notably in the defeat of fascism.
Then the right wing convoy movement adopted Canada's National Flag as its symbol, until it morphed into the separatist movement and dropped the maple leaf like a hot potato.
Justin Trudeau shamefully lowered our national flag for half a year in a humiliating ritual of national abasement.
Now lefties are trying to stigmatize the display of our beautiful Alberta flag.
All of this reflects the sad contemporary tendency to infect everything with politics.
But flags are pre political. They are unifying symbols designed to be a focal point of common loyalty and devotion. Let's treat them that way.
Prime Minister: If we are serious about building Canada’s economic recovery, then the revival of Northern Gateway is an easy decision.

Speaker Nathan Cooper has served with fairness and integrity as Alberta’s 14th Speaker. On behalf of all Albertans, thank you for your service and I’m honoured you’ve accepted the role of Senior Representative for our province in the United States.
Oil production in Alberta hit its highest ever rate for the month of March, and the first three months of this year had the highest level of production ever.
We have the resources, and thanks to TMX more ways to get it to markets, but we need more so that we can avoid any tariff uncertainty.
This Monday at 3:00pm I will deliver a live address to Albertans on the province’s path forward with the federal government following a special meeting with the Alberta government caucus.
Tune in live on Facebook, YouTube, and X as I announce the bold steps our government is taking to chart a new course for a strong and free Alberta.
Congratulations to @RachaelThomasAB on being re-elected as the MP of Lethbridge! Even if many of us would've liked to see a different result overall, I know that Lethbridge's voice will continue to be well-represented in Ottawa.
Mark Carney said the quiet part out loud during a French interview. He was asked what he really means when he talks about Canada becoming an energy superpower:
“But when I talk about an energy superpower, I am talking about the energy transition process…”
When the Liberals talk about “energy superpower” they aren’t talking about building pipelines, or producing more Canadian oil and natural gas…they are using it as a political opportunity to once again push an uneconomical and forced energy transition no Canadian asked for.
This is not change. This is Trudeau 2.0
"This funding means more families in rural and remote areas can keep their lights on and their homes warm... It means Alberta's agricultural industry can keep putting food on tables here at home and all around the world." #ableg#abpoli
It’s time to supercharge the amount of surgeries we do in Alberta - it’s time for patient based funding in health care.
We spend billions on acute care services, and while we have seen some improvements - it's simply not enough. Today we are announcing a new funding model that will increase transparency and accountability and will ensure there are more surgeries happening for Albertans. Albertans will not need to pay out of pocket for medically required surgeries - but they will certainly have faster access to these critical procedures.

ICYMI: No matter what the Carney Liberals or Nenshi NDP say, I will not stand by and be silent in the face of tariffs. Our government will always stand up for Albertans and put our people first.

At his request, I met with Prime Minister Mark Carney @MarkJCarney today. We had a very frank discussion in which I made it clear that Albertans will no longer tolerate the way we've been treated by the federal Liberals over the past 10 years.
I provided a specific list of demands the next Prime Minister, regardless of who that is, must address within the first six months of their term to avoid an unprecedented national unity crisis.
This includes:
• Guaranteeing Alberta full access to oil and gas corridors to the north, east, and west
• Repealing Bill C-69 (aka. “no new pipelines act”)
• Lifting the tanker ban off the BC coast
• Eliminating the oil and gas emissions cap, which is a production cap
• Scrapping the so-called Clean Electricity Regulations
• Ending the prohibition on single use plastics
• Abandoning the net-zero car mandate
• Returning oversight of the industrial carbon tax to the provinces
• Halting the federal censorship of energy companies
I also made it clear that Alberta, as owner of the resource, will not accept an export tax or restriction of Alberta’s oil and gas to the United States, and that our province is no longer agreeable to subsidizing other large provinces who are fully capable of funding themselves. Lastly, I made it clear that federal mismanagement of Jasper and Banff national parks resulted in last year’s tragic wildfire in Jasper and is endangering Banff, and the situation must be rectified immediately.
With the federal election about to be called, I encourage all Albertans to get involved in what is likely one of the most pivotal and important elections in our nation’s history, and to support the party and candidates that have consistently advocated for freeing Alberta from federal overreach and the repeated economic attacks our province has faced from Ottawa over the past 10 years.
Mr. Nenshi - your party owns the carbon tax. Your predecessor endorsed the carbon tax by levying her own. Gave the Liberal govt space to impose it. I hope Albertans don't forget.
Now that Prime Minister Mark Carney has been officially sworn in, his first item of business should be to call a general election.
I am extremely concerned that this cabinet includes most of same ministers responsible for the most damaging government policies levelled by Ottawa against Alberta in our over 100-year history. We are gravely concerned that plans to significantly increase the industrial carbon tax will be just as damaging to Alberta’s economy as the consumer carbon tax has been.
The Prime Minister also has not yet condemned harmful policies such as:
• The proposed emissions cap which continues to threaten our energy sector.
• Bill C-69 which still hampers critical infrastructure projects.
• Failed bail policies which continue to put our communities at risk, undermining the safety and security that Albertans deserve.
• Gun bans that target law-abiding hunters and sport shooters
• Open border policies which are allowing over 2 million people per year to enter Canada
• The plastics ban which puts billions of dollars of investment and thousands of jobs at risk
• Bill C-59 which bans businesses from communicating about their environmental goals
• The Electric Vehicle mandate which calls for 100 percent of new vehicle sold to be electric by 2035
• The Sustainable Jobs Act, which aims to transition energy workers to a net zero economy as they work to shut down the energy sector
• The Clean Electricity Regulations that will make our electricity grid 100 times less reliable and increase electricity prices by 35 per cent.
Our province has always been a leader in innovation, economic growth, and responsible resource development. We will continue to stand up for our industries, push back against policies that unfairly target Alberta, and fight for a fair deal within Confederation.
The Prime Minister must put Canada first and call an election immediately to ensure that whoever is leading this country has a four year mandate from all Canadians, especially in light of the ongoing tariff conflict with the U.S.
At a time when we are facing unprecedented economic challenges with our largest trading partner, Canada deserves and needs a leader with a mandate from Canadians.
New Liberal Leader @MarkJCarney needs to put Canada first and call an election immediately.
Alberta’s government supports a proportionate and measured response to U.S. tariffs. However, our government will not allow Ottawa to cut off or impose export tariffs on Alberta energy - doing so would hurt Albertans and Canadians far more than Americans.
The tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump are an unjustifiable economic attack on Canadians and Albertans. They also represent a clear breach of the trade agreement signed by this same U.S. President during his first term. These tariffs will hurt the American people, driving up costs for fuel, food, vehicles, housing, and many other products. They will also cost hundreds of thousands of American and Canadian jobs. This policy is both foolish and a failure in every regard.
This is not the way it should be between two of the world’s strongest trading allies and partners. We would much rather be working with the U.S. on mutually beneficial trade deals than be caught in the middle of a tariff war.
Alberta fully supports the Federal response announced today by the Prime Minister. I will be meeting with my Cabinet today and tomorrow to discuss Alberta’s response to these illegal tariffs, which we will announce publicly tomorrow.
Now is the time for us to unite as a province and a country. We must do everything in our collective power to immediately tear down provincial trade barriers and fast-track the construction of dozens of resource projects, from pipelines to LNG facilities to critical minerals projects. We must strengthen our trade ties throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas for all our energy, agricultural, and manufactured products. We also need to drastically increase military spending to ensure we can protect our nation. There is no time to waste on any of these initiatives.
I will have more to say tomorrow.
“No one wins a tariff war”
Canada- including us here in Alberta- took Americans at their word when they asked us to strengthen border security, address illegal migration, and tackle fentanyl trafficking.
That’s why today’s new tariffs and counter-tariffs are so frustrating.
Billions of dollars have been wiped from the stock market and consumers and business are about to feel the economic damage to come, especially manufacturers and refiners in the USA that rely on raw materials from Canada.
I joined @CNBC today to discuss it more.
If this was at first considered to be a joke, it long ago ceased to be funny.
I have worked with previous US Secretaries of Homeland Security. They understood that strengthening continental security required mutual respect and cooperation.
How is that not self-evident?
None of which is to absolve British Prime Minister Sir @Keir_Starmer for having cravenly thrown Canada under the bus in response to questions in Washington.
It was a shameful betrayal of a fellow realm which has made enormous sacrifices for the defence of Britain.
