One of my favourite parts of the Calgary Stampede is the Annual Energy and Minerals Open House at McDougall Centre!
This year we had about 200 energy executives and stakeholders from around the world in attendance as I told the good news that is Alberta's energy sector!
We have so much to be proud of here in this province and a bright future ahead!

Our government is strengthening its partnerships around the world and creating new opportunities for trade, investment and economic growth.
It was an honour to meet with high commissioners, ambassadors and consuls general representing Brunei, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss how we can deepen economic ties and create new opportunities for businesses.
Incredible to join Calgary Economic Development (CED) @calgaryeconomic and industry partners last night as part of CED's Film and Media Familiarization Tour.
The event brought together executives from leading studios and streaming platforms with producers, creators and businesses from across Alberta's screen sector, providing a unique opportunity to build relationships and showcase what our province has to offer.
It was also great to see Councillor John Pantazopoulos @Johnp4ward6 there and spend time with the people behind one of Alberta's fastest-growing industries.
From skilled crews and cutting-edge facilities to innovative businesses across the supply chain, Alberta's film and television sector is creating jobs, attracting investment and helping diversify our economy.

Great news for Fort McMurray students, families, and educators!
Through Alberta's Schools Now program, our government has accelerated two important local school projects; École Dickinsfield Modernization and Westwood 7-12 Community High School Replacement.
The Schools Now program is investing $8.6 billion to build and renovate more than 100 schools across Alberta, helping create approximately 200,000 new and modernized student spaces.

Fantastic turnout at the third annual Utilities Stampede Open House in #yyc. It was great to have Premier @ABDanielleSmith, Minister @neudorf_ab, colleagues, and the incredible utility sector leaders and innovators who keep our province running every single day get together for a lot of good conversation.
We've done a lot of incredible things over the past year, from advancing the modernization of our electricity system, engaging on nuclear energy, and ensuring the right policies are in place to ensure that the reliability and affordability of power for Albertans is protected as we welcome data centres to our province, and I look forward to continuing to build on this work in the year ahead.
Today, Alberta welcomed one of the largest private-sector investments in our province’s history.
Meta is investing $13 billion to build its first Canadian AI data centre in Alberta - a major vote of confidence in our province as the best place to do business and a growing hub for technology and innovation.
This project will support 3,000 construction jobs, create 300 permanent positions, generate an estimated $250 million in annual revenue for Alberta, and include an additional $60 million investment in local roads, water and community infrastructure.
Thank you to Meta for choosing Alberta and investing in our people, our communities and our future.

Attending one of the economic development events in Calgary and hearing from Brad Parry, President & CEO of Calgary Economic Development, Sven List, CEO of Export Development Canada, and Minister Joseph Schow had some key themes. One of the themes that stood out throughout the discussion was the tremendous opportunity ahead for Alberta. From attracting investment and supporting entrepreneurs to expanding international trade and growing Alberta businesses, there is a real sense of momentum across our province. Alberta continues to be a place where innovation, creativity, and hard work are rewarded.
I am encouraged by the ambitious vision being put forward to grow our economy, create jobs, and continue to position Alberta as the leader in attracting investment from around the world.
Alberta's future is bright, and I believe our best days are still ahead.

41 school projects are moving ahead with 19 now ready to start construction. The Schools Now program has already delivered 16 new schools with another 12 opening next year.
Alberta’s skilled workforce is one of our greatest competitive advantages, helping attract major investment, create jobs, and build a stronger economy.
It was great to spend some time with @UBCBuilt_CRC at their Stampede Breakfast and recognize the skilled tradespeople who are helping build Alberta’s future.
I was also pleased to connect with Premier @TonyWakehamNL of Newfoundland and Labrador and Secretary of State for Labour @JZerucelli.
Thank you to the Carpenters’ Regional Council for hosting such a great event!
Indian Relay Racing is a powerful tradition that showcases the skill, courage, and rich cultural heritage of Indigenous Peoples, with roots that span generations.
It was an honour to attend the DH Ranch and witness this incredible display of athleticism and tradition.

Fact check time.
Older data centres required massive amounts of water and took large amounts of electricity from the grid. What Alberta is building is the complete opposite.
@meta's Sturgeon Data Centre will use a closed-loop, liquid-cooled system with dry cooling that requires no operational water use for cooling. In fact, it will use less water than an average Alberta golf course.
The data centre campus will be developed under Alberta’s “bring your own power” approach. Rather than relying solely on Alberta’s electricity grid, the project will combine grid-connected electricity with generation from a new $4.6 billion private-sector funded on-site natural gas power plant, helping protect grid reliability. This will benefit electricity customers across the province by reducing transmission costs by up to six per cent on Albertans’ utility bills.
One of the largest private sector investments in Canadian history is coming home to Alberta.
@Meta has chosen Alberta for its first Canadian AI data centre, a historic $13 billion investment that will create thousands of jobs, strengthen our economy, and help position our province as a global leader in artificial intelligence and technology.
This project will support 3,000 construction jobs, 300 permanent positions, generate an estimated $250 million in annual benefits for Albertans, and invest $60 million into local roads, water, and community infrastructure.
Meta is fully funding new generation and grid infrastructure to support the data centre, which will improve reliability across the entire Alberta grid benefiting electricity customers across the province by reducing transmission costs by up to six per cent on Albertans’ utility bills.
We are proud to welcome Meta to and thank them for their confidence in our province, our economy, and most importantly, our people. Alberta has the energy, talent, and ambition to power the next generation of innovation.
Kicked off yesterday with the Premier’s Stampede Pancake Breakfast before touring the Calgary Courts Centre with Ontario Associate Solicitor General @ZeeHamid and Ontario MPP @MonicaCiriello, Parliamentary Assistant to the Attorney General. Finally, I wrapped up the day with an excellent discussion with MP @LarryBrockMP.
Stampede brings together people from every corner of Canada, and it’s always a pleasure to reconnect with our conservative colleagues, share ideas, and strengthen the partnerships that help move our country forward.
One of the great things the Calgary Stampede does is it creates relationships, and building relationships is how we bring more investment and business to Alberta.
We have been working with @Invest_Alberta to help pave this road to growing our economy, talking with companies like Red Earth Energy and many others.
