Our annual MRL Cheetham Lecture by Jeffrey Long! "Cooperative Adsorption and Gas Separations in Metal–Organic Frameworks". We were very happy to hold our Materials Research Outreach Program poster session as well, with work from many grad students and postdocs.
Beginning next week: our second set of "Materials Mondays" - virtual presentations of materials research, aimed at all audience levels, presented by current and past researchers from the Materials Research Laboratory. For details see this flyer! https://t.co/KV1SvtXRBW
Our annual Materials Research Outreach Program (MROP) has drawn to a close! MROP 2020 focused on organic-based macromolecules and polymers as well as inorganic materials. https://t.co/zaZz1Ykbir
Materials Professor Chris Bates presented his groups research into block co-polymers in a talk titled “Plastic Confections” at the MRL’s 20th annual Science Teacher Workshop on March 15th! For more information on the event, see: https://t.co/RMzn53OBPX
Slime science week!! MRL scientists spent a week exploring slime with the public at Santa Barbara's "MOXI" Science Museum - explaining the science of polymer cross linking, magnetic and thermochromic slime, and even how slime can respond to sound waves!
Fun summer educational outreach at the MRL as Ram Seshadri discusses the future of solar energy and materials science with visitors from the Youth 2 Leaders Education Foundation shortly before they build their own solar cars!
