John and I believe that activism is love in action, and so for us taking to the streets in Pride is like renewing our wedding vows -- a reminder of how much we have to celebrate, and how much work remains to be done for us all to achieve full equality in all aspects of our lives
In honor of Pride month, we invited members of our UCSF queer community to participate in this social media campaign. This year, our theme is titled PRIDE IS PROTEST, a call to understand, recognize, and honor the importance and legacy of the Stonewall uprising in 1969...
In fact, it's because my husband John and I showed up for a protest over 19 years ago that we were able be one of the first ten LGBTQ couples ever to get married in San Francisco City Hall in 2004.
