Jennifer Pharr has no background in politics, and that's exactly why she believes she's an effective politician.

Pharr is a commercial real estate agent, and as of 2018 she is also a council member at large for the city of Charleston.

According to an email from President Roth, 2 out of the 169 Covid tests administered last week on campus, came back positive which made a 1.2% positivity rate. As of October 9th, there was 3.2% positivity rate across Kanawha county. UC now has a total of 11 active cases.

Ask an Eagle: Mely Alvarez

Mely Alvarez is a sophomore tennis player majoring in Psychology. Last semester, when COVID-19 hit and the University of Charleston’s community was sent home, she had to pack everything up in a matter of hours and fly back home to Mexico.

However she is enjoying being back on campus, even with the new rules in place.

“It was difficult at first, but I know that it is for everyone’s safety”.

UC’s Student Body President Ryan McFarland is impressed with the way that the campus has been able to adapt to education with Covid-19. “I’ve been really proud of the way the students, staff and faculty have been able to adjust,” he said.

Whether it was picking up trash, cleaning playgrounds, making ornaments, or writing letters to our health care workers, area teachers, and veterans, the UC students all made a difference this past weekend. Well done by our golden eagles to cap off an amazing labor day weekend!

According to President Roth in an email yesterday, for the week of August 30th-September 5th, there are 0 active covid cases from UC residential students, UC employees, Beckley commuter students, and Beckley employees. There are 3 active covid cases from UC commuter students.

Ask an Eagle: Jenna Meade

Jenna Meade is a senior Biology major at the University of Charleston. Since 2017, Jenna has been creating memories, cultivating friendships, and pursuing her dreams at UC. In this interview, she shares her thoughts on the upcoming semester.
