Abstract 4 of 4 :
"Twenty Years of Radiofrequency Ablation for Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: A Population Study" offers key insights into cancer treatment. 🌟🔬🏥
🎯 Study Purpose:
Examining the effectiveness and survival trends of thermoablation in treating intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) over two decades, using data from the SEER database. A crucial look into evolving cancer treatment methods! 🏥📊
🔍 Study Details:
❍ Data Source: SEER database, 2000-2020
❍ Patients Analyzed: 192 with iCCA
❍ Measures: Overall Survival (OS), with subgroup analysis based on various demographics and tumor characteristics
📊 Key Findings:
❍ Median Overall Survival (mOS): 28 months (95% CI: 22-32 months)
❍ Survival Rates: 1-yr OS 79.3%, 3-yr OS 35.8%, 5-yr OS 19.8%
❍ Improved Survival in Post-2010 Diagnoses (mOS: 32 vs. 21 months)
mOS by Disease Stage: Local 37 months, Regional 40 months, Distant 13 months
❍ Tumor Size Impact: ≤3 cm with mOS of 46 months, 3-5 cm with 32 months, >5 cm with 23 months
📌 Conclusion: Thermoablation for iCCA shows significant improvement in patient outcomes, particularly for those diagnosed after 2010 and with smaller tumor sizes. A huge discovery in iCCA management.
Thanks to @EndovasClarkY, @TheRealDoctorOs and colleagues for this impactful research! 🙏 @UChicagoIR
What potential do you see for thermoablation in iCCA treatment?
🌐 That concludes our series on the "Abstracts of the Year" from the @SIRspecialists 2024 Conference, as featured in @JVIRmedia! Congratulation to all the authors and thank you for your hard work!
