Two months later & I still can’t get over this game, chills every time. It just means more beating Duke in that fashion, it just does. They didn’t win the natty but this win is up there with any other game in the history of the program. Need college bball back badly.
@Mooch7182 I’m sure Landrew will get some minutes at the forward spot but they need a little more size there I think. He’s more of a wing as is Ross Khamenia isn’t playing 35 min a game like Karaban was for much of the season, just surprised they didn’t go hard for another guy there.
Few thoughts:
Still no word on another assistant coach yet, would have to imagine they fill that in the coming weeks.
Still really surprised they haven’t brought in another contributor to the front court. They need another body that can provide minutes IMO.
They seem “set” 1/2
On guards & they must love County, they continue to say hes getting the backup minutes as a freshmen. Reminder that a freshmen hasnt had PG duties since Jalen Gaffney… Him & Nils will platoon minutes there. Certainly a lot of upside w/ team but banks of increased production. 2/2
@Norsk2u That’s barefoot tho, Alex is probably a good 1-2 inches taller than him. He’s got the strength, they’ll prolly move him around a bit. Still think they need another rotation player in the mix there.
2 scholarships open for UConn, still feels like they’re a rotation player short in the front court. Maybe they see some Landrew minutes at that spot but they would certainly benefit from some additional size there.
UConn out of conference opponents rankings per Torvik for 2026-27:
Michigan: 1
Duke: 2
Arizona: 9
Kansas: 11
Illinois: 13
Virginia: 14
Ohio State: 18
I’m not sure it’s finalized yet but has to be one of the best OOC schedules made w/o any type of MTE involved. All single games
With no Luke Murray & losing their top 3 scorers, curious to see what UConn will look like offensively next season. Offense will flow through Mullins but not expecting to see as many high/low type sets w/ Hines right away like we see with Tarris later in the season. 1/3
@huskyjayhawk I think they’re betting on his upside & ability to be a facilitator/connector, at least more than he got to show at Duke. We’ll see if he can play “point forward” but he should be able to be a good connector & high IQ player, they’ll move him around a bunch I’m sure.
They arent done adding to the roster but the core is done. Another forward & guard that can handle/score still seems like a need. They clearly like County at the backup guard spot but Id be hesitant to roll w/ that as my only option. Tough for freshmen to handle those duties. 3/3
So scoring w/ the bigs might not be an immediate strength. Wondering if we see more PNR actions & a bit more “off script” attacking from the guards/wings. Theyre banking on increases in production from everyone freshmen included. Hence UConn 32 in off rating per Torvik 2/3
@seity555@SageCanaday@YETIsix9ine He’s winning his age group, wining smaller races straight up, winning prizes, qualifying for Boston etc etc. cheating is cheating & he’s also having other people miss out on podium finishes, yeah it matters if he’s still using.
@2ndChancePoints Yeah that’s fair, we do it see it a bit tho. Brunson, Pritchard, Ant, Luka, plenty of others that have playing off 2 feet/shot fake/step through stuff. This came up earlier in the season when Pritchard did it. Guys like using Euros to create advantages but these work well too
@SageCanaday@seity555 He definitely insists he’s clean, he also pushes merch that says “nobody cares work harder.” He might be “clean” now but he was using PEDs for awhile to improve performance, kinda hypocritical…
@DonOf_NikeTown They’ll for sure grab another forward & one w/ positional flexibility/size. Probably about it for true rotational players outside the forward spot. Guessing we see a Millender type 3rd string PG but this is basically the roster at this point. They’re betting on County.
UConn needed shooting & bench scoring, fits the bill. They seem to be moving away from a bench distributor ala Diarra/Smith & betting on County & others to fill in that production. They must love the County tape to bank on him assuming that role, no freshmen since Gaffney has.
NEWS: Wofford transfer Nils Machowski has committed to UConn, agent Milan Nikolic tells DraftExpress.
