The UDM is the political home of all South Africans.
United in the spirit of South Africanism by our common passion for our Country into a winning nation.

[ICYMI] WATCH: UDM Deputy President - Hon. Nqabayomzi Kwankwa during the Debate on Budget Vote 1 by the Presidency.
Tshawe shared extensively the UDM’s position on the issue of illegal immigration and asked the President various questions.
The UDM has always maintained that the Phala Phala matter raises serious questions which cannot simply be brushed aside. The issues surrounding the concealed foreign currency, the movement of funds across South Africa’s borders, and the conduct of those involved require full scrutiny and accountability. The Constitutional Court judgment reinforces the principle that no one is above parliamentary oversight or constitutional accountability. Parliament must now allow the process to run its full course.

The Constitutional Court has reaffirmed that Parliament cannot abdicate its constitutional oversight responsibilities. The UDM now awaits guidance from the Speaker on the parliamentary steps to follow regarding the Section 89 process and the implementation of the judgment. Accountability, constitutionalism and stability must go hand in hand. #PhalaPhala #ConCourt #UDM #GNU @KwankwaNLS@BantuHolomisa
The UDM condemns the burning of the Botha Sigcau Building, a historic symbol of governance and transformation in the Eastern Cape. We call for urgent intervention to restore services, a full investigation, and accountability. Its legacy must be preserved.
Today I held a frank engagement with the United States Ambassador to South Africa, L. Brent Bozell III, where I emphasised the need for honest dialogue to address recent strains in relations between South Africa and the United States. I stressed that misinformation about our country must be confronted with facts and direct engagement with South Africans, while encouraging renewed cooperation to strengthen our longstanding partnership and advance peace and economic development.
The UDM has written to the Speaker of the National Assembly asking why Parliament is refusing to honour Tata Mosiuoa Lekota ahead of his funeral this Saturday.
Lekota chaired the inaugural National Council of Provinces in South Africa’s first democratic Parliament.
Why the double standard?

The UDM in the Eastern Cape notes reports that Buffalo City mayor Princess Faku is the subject of a matter before the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
Electoral integrity must be protected and public resources must never be used for partisan advantage. The IEC process must proceed independently and transparently.

Sport unites South Africans, but it must also reflect our constitutional values. The United Democratic Movement (UDM) has requested parliamentary oversight on the handling of our complaint to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) regarding remarks by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Eastern Cape State of the Province: After 32 years of ANC rule and 7 years under this Premier, fragmentation is no longer transitional. It is systemic. #SOPA2026 must answer one question: if the plans look good on paper, why do results remain fragile? In 2026, voters will judge performance, not promises.

Wishing Ms Thandi Nontenja, MP and UDM National Treasurer a very happy birthday. May the year ahead bring you strength, good health and continued wisdom as you serve our Movement and our people.

In the NCOP today, the UDM made one thing clear: vision without enforcement is empty.
We called for real security coordination, skills funding that produces results, and accountability at the PIC.
South Africa needs performance, not speeches.
