Congratulations to Dr. Chad Howe, who was selected as the Graduate Coordinator recipient of the 2024 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate Education! Chad has done a great job, and we will be very sorry to lose him to his new post as interim director of LACSI.

The Linguistics department offers its sincere congratulations to Ph.D. student Jean Costa-Silva, who has won the well-deserved 2024 Graduate School Excellence in Teaching Award. The UGA Center for Teaching and Learning mentioned that they were “blown away” by all Jean has done.
LSUGA will be hosting the Linguistics Conference at UGA (LCUGA) on February 17-18th in-person in Athens, GA. The theme of this year's conference is "Modeling Language." We are excited to announce this year's plenary speakers: Luis Ulloa (SUNY) & Dr. Sashank (GA TECH).

This year, doctoral students Donald Dunagan and Jean Costa Silva presented their research in the 100th Linguistics Society of America Meeting. It was held in New York City from January 4th to January 7th.
