@billscher This seems more true pre-2016 when the Ds had more low propensity voters. The Trump coalition is has more low propensity voters, so portraying the race as closer than it is may help Rs drive turnout in years with Trump on the ballot.

@digby56 IANAPA but one explination is that it didn't happen over night, but it happened over 4 year. Harris's dramatic entry into the race and the DNC produced a response bias that masked this change. As time passes, the response bias decreases revealing the state of the race.
