The official launch of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (#POATE2026) by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, marks another major step in strengthening regional tourism partnerships 🇺🇬🇹🇿
After an unforgettable Ugandan experience through the #UGArushaConnect Fam Trip, the Tanzanian delegation today joined fellow tourism stakeholders, industry leaders, and colleagues for networking, collaboration, and new opportunities at #POATE2026.
The Uganda booth was visited by Amb. Richard Kabonero, Rt. Gen. Amb. Frank Mugambage Rusoke, Uganda High Commissioner to Kigali, alongside senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, fellow Regional Heads of Mission, and Major General Moses Rwakitarate of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces.
The hosted buyers from Arusha also had a catch-up conversation with Amb. Anne Katusiime, reflecting on their journey across Uganda and the experiences that made the Pearl of Africa truly unforgettable.
From gorilla trekking to the Nile, culture, wildlife, and hospitality, Uganda truly delivered the Pearl of Africa experience.
H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially launched #POATE2026, welcomed delegates to Uganda, and reassured them of their safety and comfort during their stay in the Pearl of Africa. To wrap up the day in style, the hosted buyers surprised Amb. Anne Katusiime with a token of appreciation for the effort and dedication she put into making the Fam Trip a success. 🇺🇬
Uganda recorded approximately 1.64 million international tourist arrivals in 2025, reflecting growing global confidence in the Pearl of Africa. After the engaging technical discussions, our teams exchanged pleasantries with the Ugandan High Commission in Kigali @UGHighCommRWA and the Consulate of Uganda in Tanzania @ArushaUganda under the @UgandaMFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), a valued consumer of some of National Information Technology Authority-Uganda services.
It’s been a wholesome day of engaging with the tourism sector on leveraging tech to further boost the tourism industry.
