I serve as co-chair in David Maraga's political committee, where Shakira served (quite well actually) as the secretary until November last year when she resigned.
I'll do a thread to explain my experience of what transpired.
Audience granted. Independent committee. Complainants allowed to choose their preferred aides. Clear timelines of events & hearings communicated. Multiple follow ups despite complainants abandoning the process. Clearly the party did everything it could do to address the matter.
I’m actually going to be the devil’s advocate today.
1: Maraga is a decent man and I truly believe in him and look up to him a lot.
2:Four distinguished women left his campaign team because of @NetoAgostinhoMP and his series of harassment. Shakira can’t mention his name because of things like defamation and other frustrations victims often go through. I will not even use the word allegedly because it’s facts and the entire team knows. There was a whole hearing for this.
3: You all keep asking insensitive questions because you don’t believe victims if they don’t fit your description of what a perfect victim is. You want perfect victims.
4:Getting Ruto out of power should never come at the cost of women being harassed, silenced and trampled on. These are things that the campaign must address publicly and state their stand.
5: This is not some “kushikwa shikwa “ udaku and tea that you’re all making it to be. It’s a serious issue in politics where women are sexually harassed and abused.
Maraga arriving at the matriarch’s grief sit-down with flowers and a clear desire to command attention is deeply distasteful. Coming from someone whose campaign sidelined women after mishandling sexual harassment allegations, the optics are particularly troubling.
Some moments call for humility, not political theatre.
I was born a girl. Into a world that works tirelessly to reduce my human experience into a neat little box, defined only by its own narrow terms. A world where my safety isn’t prioritized, and when I dare to speak up, I’m reminded of that box I’m supposed to quietly and submissively retreat into. Staying quiet has always been the easy way out. No one questions your experience then, no one blames you for the anger and courage it took to speak out, no one points at your physical attributes to determine if you were ‘worth’ attracting unwarranted sexual advances.

@dkmaraga, with @UGMParty representatives, visited the eight Utumishi Girls Academy fire victims at Kenyatta National Hospital, offering condolences and wishing them a quick recovery. Maraga urged swift investigation and accountability.
This morning, I visited the eight young students from Utumishi Girls Academy who are recovering at Kenyatta National Hospital following last week's tragic fire.
I was accompanied by fellow @UGMParty representatives @NetoAgostinhoMP , @susan_lumumba , @OrogoDaniel and others.
I sat with these brave girls, conveyed my heartfelt condolences, and prayed for their swift and full recovery.
I am calling on the relevant authorities to conclude their investigations without delay and to hold all those responsible fully accountable.
Many comments are purely appreciative, highlighting that Maraga is one of the few retired state officers who hasn't "retired into silence." They view him as a moral compass.
Today, I participated in the march and sit down against femicide and pedicide.
We need to safeguard the lives of women and children and ensure persons suspected of violating their rights are swiftly prosecuted.
Access to timely justice is critical in protecting potential victims and their families.
Let's join hands to restore the sanctity of life #Ukombozi @UGMParty
David Kenani Maraga stands with every Kenyan seeking justice because he believes in a better Kenya governed by the rule of law. He has consistently championed constitutionalism, accountability, and the rights of citizens, standing with those advocating for a just cause.
Today, @dkmaraga joined Kenyans for the Women's National Memorial Protest against femicide and pedocide in Kenya.
Our Constitution guarantees every person the right to life, human dignity and access to justice. It also guarantees every child the right to protection from abuse and harm.
As a nation, we must uphold these constitutional guarantees and ensure that every woman and child is safe, protected, and lives free from fear and violence.
