First independent undergraduate labor union in the country! We fight for fair wages and working conditions for all workers at Grinnell College #UnionYES
4. CAs have the choice between a room grant or equivalent stipend
5. The ability to bargain over the effects of workplace changes, job eliminations, etc.
The contract is a historic win for the Union. Highlights include:
1. A base wage of $13.50 an hour (a $5.25 increase from when bargaining began)
2. Just Cause for all student workers
3. A grievance procedure for all students (with a third party arbitrator)
This represents countless hours of negotiations that resulted in a contract that will meet the needs of all student workers. All Union members were sent an email with the full contract and voting information on the contract!
After almost 1.5 years of bargaining, we have come to a tentative agreement on a contract with the College! This contract would be the first wall-to-wall undergraduate contract in US history if passed!
Our bargaining team supports a "yes" vote on this contract!
Contract highlights:
Base wage: $13.50 for everyone
CAs: choice between room grant or equivalent stipend
Just Cause for All
Grievance Procedure for all
Last year, Red Hot Summer spurred a new wave of student worker unionization like we've never seen before! This year, @YDSA_ is taking the program and our movement to new heights - sign up now: https://t.co/iLHjsAE8qU
🧵The GOP is revoking trans rights, Democratic leadership is funding Israeli apartheid, and the police are defending attacks on our Black and brown community members. Enough is enough: it's time we use our power as workers to fight back.
Introducing: Red Hot Summer 2023.
⚠️ILLEGAL UNION BUSTING⚠️
For months, we've bargained in good faith while Grinnell refused to agree to a living wage or protections against discrimination and harassment. Today, admin told us that they refuse to bargain until we end our strike - a clear violation of labor law.
WE WILL NOT CAVE TO THEIR ILLEGAL TACTICS. We are still on strike and will stay on strike until they return to the bargaining table and meet our demands.
Please share and support our strike fund! https://t.co/YkiyBM6ARJ

.@UGSDW filed an @NLRB complaint against @GrinnellCollege for "refusal to bargain/bad faith" yesterday. Grinnell canceled a planned bargaining session today after the strike began yesterday.
