For the second time in less than 24 hours, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has directed armed forces against our peaceful gatherings. This evening, as we convened in reconciliation dialogue with traditional elders, including Ugaas Maxamud Cali Ugaas, we came under attack.

Tonight, the residence of former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Mogadishu was repeatedly targeted by forces acting under HSM orders.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families of those killed and my thoughts are with the injured.

These are not isolated incidents. They are coordinated strikes directed by a man whose presidential mandate constitutionally expired on 15 May 2026 — now mobilizing state forces to silence those who oppose his unconstitutional hold on power. Most alarmingly, the forces carrying out these attacks were trained and equipped by our international partners to fight Al-Shabaab — not to be turned against Somalia’s own political leaders.

BREAKING 🚨: The U.S. Embassy has issued a strongly worded statement as fighting continues to escalate in Mogadishu, describing the unfolding violence as “reckless” and warning that actions taken in the coming hours and days could have lasting consequences for Somalia’s security, unity, and future.

Particularly notable is the embassy’s reference to Somalia’s “unity” at a moment when the country is facing its most serious internal political and military crisis in years. The statement comes shortly after senior U.S. officials returned from Hargeisa, only to be confronted by rapidly deteriorating conditions and open warfare in Mogadishu.

As clashes intensify and civilian casualties mount, international concern over the direction of events in Somalia appears to be growing.

⚡️Heavy fighting engulfed every woreda of South Gonder Zone (📍Amhara Region, Ethiopia) as Fano launched multi-front offensive on June 1st, disrupting the election.

🔵 Units operating under the AFNM-BC and AFNM-GPC launched coordinated offensives across Debre-Tabor, Tach-Gayint, Estie, Simada, Andabet, Fogera, Ibnat, Guna-Begemidir, Lay-Gayint, Dera, Libo-Kemkem, and parts of Farta Woreda, turning the entire zone into an active battlefield.

🔵 In Debre-Tabor City, units under the Wubante Abate Tewerwari and Guna Divisions carried out a large-scale urban offensive across multiple sectors of the city. In Simada Woreda, Fano forces entered Wegeda town and reportedly forced regime troops to withdraw toward defensive positions on Sheref-Gode Mountain.

🔵 In Ibnat Woreda, the Etege Taytu Division reportedly killed nine regime personnel, including four DShK operators, and critically wounded another 15. Heavy clashes were also reported in Wereta, Kimir-Dingay, Gasay, Sali, Gobgob, Hamusit, Anbesame, Addis-Zemen, Mikael-Debir, and numerous surrounding localities, with reports indicating significant regime casualties across multiple fronts.

🔴 Regime mortar shelling in Welesh town (Andabet Woreda) struck the Adama-Yinat neighborhood, killing a mother and her child and critically injuring five other civilians.

🔵 The offensive formed part of the wider AFNM election day campaign that saw fighting reported across more than 100 fronts throughout Amhara Region.
