#ukcommunityday - fantastic idea - make it a national holiday? maybe instead of one of our many ‘bank’ holidays (why can’t we have holidays in honour of something other than a bank?) @JohnGlenUK@danny__kruger
Our article (@MarinaKim_ & @NabilNajjar1) from last year explaining the idea. We’ve been calling for it to become an annual cohesion day of giving thanks to the heroes of our communities.
It’s amazing, if the Queen is going to be at the heart of it! ❤️

We held #ukcommunityday#thankholiday for the 1st time on the 23 March last year. The idea was to cement the feeling of togetherness that emerged during the pandemic & honour community heroes. The exact date doesn’t matter. Would be great for this to become a lovely annual event.
Any suggestions on when to have this #ThankHoliday? I think has to avoid May as too disruptive to have another then. I also think a Friday better than another Monday. In a total breach of the spirit of this, let’s all now have a national row about which day 😄
@msvalthompson Oh I see. Glad you are sorted. 🙏🏼 The map with local groups used to work fine when we operated, not sure what happened with it, not checked it since we shut down tbh. If you have accommodation you can offer, your local council should be able to give advice how to go about it.
@msvalthompson Hi Valerie,
We don’t have it. What do you need it for? We were a grassroots community group, so wouldn’t have had it. We stopped operating in August last year, so at the moment it’s just me on my own, trying to help where I can on Ukraine.

@james88zxrr@TheGardenHouse5 I think at the moment the UK only allows Ukrainian relatives of people who live in the UK to come here, but the rules should change soon, so for the time being only looking in mainland Europe.
Wonderful to hear. ❤️
Also, an important reminder - don’t forget to cancel your booking once it’s done - this way, the hosts will still get the money and someone else can book it again, thus increasing the amount of money they can receive.
At first I was sceptical about the @Airbnb initiative to help Ukrainians by renting apartments. But today a friend in Lviv said he received $15 000 over the past week for his apartments, bought medicines, including insulin for diabetics, and will be driving them to Kyiv today.
Here is an idea how to support people in #Ukraine: book their flats/rooms for rent on AirBnb. Hundreds of people are already doing it as a way to send immediate $ assistance to people in there. Just type “Ukraine” and pick a place, e.g. Kharkov, Kherson, Odessa etc
